I know this is a bit late in the conversation and completely off-topic, but I think these old pictures of Slade performing in Denmark in 1978 would be of special interest to Scott and Mark: Awesome pictures! You took these ?

I took the last three pictures with my then crappy instamatic camera - hence the poor quality...

The first picture I actually found online, and is from the exact same gig - There were a few others, but they didn't show off the huge Hiwatt rig of theirs, as the slightly shaken one of Noddy that I took.

I never got to see Slade live The first live video I saw was in 2003 the '83 Liverpool performance. My love of Slade was purely powered by the records.

And it sounded like a pbass with tone rolled off. That's kinda weird.

Only when everything on the bass was dimed. As soon as I back off the neck p-up, it's clear. This is contrary to how I run every other bass I own.

Dave Hill was everything I though a rock star ought to be, a total extrovert onstage, outlandish hair, white platform boots complete with spurs! They were the real deal, you knew they loved playing and being onstage. They were always a big influence on me.


Mr awilke84, I keep forgetting you're not all that far away, up there in Nanaimo, Subaru's and Thunderbirds rule!

My '99 (now with 231K miles on it) and my first restored '76 in 7UP Green.

Dave Hill was everything I though a rock star ought to be, a total extrovert onstage, outlandish hair, white platform boots complete with spurs! They were the real deal, you knew they loved playing and being onstage. They were always a big influence on me.

I saw them a couple of times live in Denmark, and the pictures are from the last time I saw them in '78...

The first time was my first live koncert in a really huge theatre...

I was pretty young and had my mom follow me to the show - I remember sitting not far from Dave Hill who was really really over the top with his costume and platforms and his custom SuperYob guitar.

At one point in my youth I even had Slade costumes made for my Action Man/G.I. Joe figures - and yes, it was pathetic but I was a kid...

So I better rectify this and get the conversation back on track by posting 7/10 of the collection:

In respect to Slade. Don Powell, the drummer is coming up to Scotland over the weekend of July 4th to 6th as an Ambassador for an Autistic Charity. He is jamming with my band (Still Whisky) on the 4th! to raise awareness and it gets the press to make everyone aware of the Charity. Also it was 50 years ago that Slade first played in Scotland, in Hawick and we will be jamming with him in Hawick! I will post pics after the event if anyone is interested.
