Never understood how a two pickup bass could be a one-trick-pony??

We are over 1000 posts. Do we need a new thread?
I just read on other threads about how the thunderbird bass is a "one trick pony".
75% bridge pickup / 25% neck - direct into the board - An original tune, sung by my daughter
25% bridge pickup / 75% neck - used some bass chords on an original tune, sung by my daughter

What the Spector guys have been doing is doing the "In with pics" posts every 1000 posts. Allows us to keep seeing everyone's awesome basses.Liam was *gutted* about that too, if you guys have any suggestions I'm certainly open.

Works for me, I love seeing everybody's Thunderbirds!
I'll have to try to take some new pics this Summer, the Subaru is all cleaned up![]()

"In with pics"..?
Do you mean, we should all post pictures of all our basses for every 1000 posts?
Subaru, huh? Speaking of Subarus...I'm waiting on a new rear window for my 98 legacy. Shattered it the other day closing the hatch on my 4x10 cab.![]()
The cab's fine. Honestly, I'm perplexed as to how it even made contact. The cab was 2" away from the window! But how's the cab?!?
Seriously, sorry to hear about the window.
By default, I play with my bass rolled off, my mids turned up, the mid freq selector set to 5, and the treble turned up.Maybe you just need to set the EQ on the amp. I tried one in store and it sounded fine through the amp i was using (ampeg stack svt.) as boomy as it may have been, it was still very clear and defined.
Hopefully I'll get a special dispensation as this bass isn't a Thunderbird. Built by John Diggens of Jaydee Guitars it is a exact replica of Jim Lea's John Birch bass. John Diggens built the original while working at Birch in the '70s. John Diggens got Jimmy to put his bass up as a pattern. It seems Jimmy a know recluse these days was pretty chuffed that someone in the USA was paying attention. Online UK friends Ian Edmonson and Stu Rutter gave me invaluable information and history about Jimmy's bass, Stu even sent off a 70's Birch bridge and other bits to JD help with the project. The bass features 70's John Birch pickups kindly supplied by Diggen's, built in distortion circuit, the volume knob for the distortion circuit is from Jim's bass and is signed by Jimmy. It was a thrill of a life time to get this bass made. I'm a Slade fanatic I suppose I also have one of their Hiwatt DR201s and Jimmy's flight case.![]()
