Thunderbird Club

I Think you're right, however I'd sure try the whole process with out the pedal, just a cord straight into your amp as way to confirm. I've had various T Bird pups squeal and feed back too, none ever actually needed replacing as it turned out.
Thanks for the reply. It still makes an audible noise thru the amp when plugged directly into the amp without the pedal. I guess I'll exchange it this week for a new one. I love the tone, feel, and style of the bass, so I want the best possible example I can get!

Does anybody know how Epiphone finishes their Goth necks? The clear coat is coming off mine, and is creating sticky spots. I'd rather find an option other than sanding down to the bare wood and refinishing, but I suspect that's what's gonna happen. I'll shoot Epi CS an email tomorrow and ask 'em, I just figured somebody here would know.

Not quite sure, but does your neck look shiny black compared to the flat black body? Thats how mine looks now after some heavy wool wipping with guitar polish/windex.

With my awesome band mate Miss Ginger Li....

Beautiful bass... :)

What exactly is that colour - metallic tangerine?

Just finished building my Gibson 2013 Non Reverse Thunderbird with chrome parts. Hipshot bridge and the now available mini cover leafs tuners plus a set of custom made (?) pickups which come in at 12.5k where as the. Gibsons were only 9.5k and they are controllable which the tone knob, cost £50 sterling for the pair with surround ring.

What brand are those pickups, and where did you buy them?

How rare are these, Mark? Kind of looks like a Studio 4 but it isn't I don't think. The listing says 22 frets but there's only 20 of course. oh, and look at that PG... wrapping the P/U's. Never saw that before.

Larry, its a short scale Thunderbird, Gibson offered them a couple years back. I had that I purchased for a good friend in Germany ( kept it about a month before sending it on to him), they are really cool - I'm not really a shorty player tho.

Re my Lull, it's a metallic burnt orange, not a stock color for Mike - so it was custom painted for me by Mike's guy. Mine was the first production T-4 made after two prototypes, tho subsequent basses have changed a little from mine, notably in thickness of the body. You do see T-4's on the used market which probably brings the price down a bit.
The day I picked it up from Mike was a big deal for me as I'd never spent that kind of money on a bass, nor had I ever had one built just for me as custom. Mike is the most genuine, nicest guy you could ever meet - He shot this pic of me, a very proud new owner of his craftsmanship.

I need a bit of help, folks.
I'm doing a slight mod on an Epiphone Goth Thunderbird: black and red control knobs, black pickguard wiith red thunderbird decal, DR Red Devils, Hipshot bridge and new pickups.
Does anyone have any idea if the Epiphone Deep Sixx pickups are that much different than the standard ones or maybe on par with the Gibson pickups used on the Epiphone Thunderbird Classic Pro?
They sell for between $50 and $70 on ebay and should be a direct fit, I believe.

My deep sixx's sound no different to the standard Epi Pickups, the Gibson pickups are leaps and bounds better than the Epi ones
