taking my Gretsch cause the stage space is way tight....had to boil the DRs on there cause no time to get a new set... surprisingly they sound pretty close to new when boiled.....taking my Eden 350 into my Markbass 2 X 10....should be fun..great crowd...

I used to have good results soaking strings in methyl hydrate. IMO that’s a better option than cooking up bass string broth on the stove.

Was just thinking about how your trip was. Ya didn't miss a whole lot. But Veronica posted up something really cool a page or 4 ago.

I saw that because it was in a quote on my first page I viewed. Very nice presentation.

Other than voting you in as our delegate to the UN, you didn't miss much. We put an item on your agenda, BTW, making the Thunderbird the official bird of planet Earth. We were going to push for official stormbringer, but Norway Musicians Union made Thor their representative, and that didn't seem like a hill we wanted to die on.

Once again I miss out on the important voting. :( But I will be proud to represent the group in the UN.:cool:

Welcome back Andy! Hope that was a beautiful trip, enjoyed the pics you shared on FB.

Thanks!!!

It was a great trip!! First time in Europe and it did not disappoint. Enjoyed this trip very much. Can't wait to do it again.

Hahaha I see what you did there. The food in Italy was amazing!!!! I ate Margharita pizza in several places and all of them were delicious!! Tons of tiny cars similar to Smart Cars but when we went to Sorrento there was a Lamborghini event going on so saw about 20 of those driving around. Monaco and Monte Carlo also had some crazy expensive cars rolling around. Was nice to see some of those cars in the flesh for once.

old Kramer fretless into an Ampeg and a Sunn box......all analog including the OB synth and Simmons kit...PLUS slap pop on the fretless! what a unique sound...it sounded so cutting edge back then but in reality, was ALL analog...crazy..
thanks for posting..

Here's another - maybe it was a synth bass (or synth assist) for the recording, be how 'modern rock' is a P-bass? (hint - it ain't the bass!) ;)

rubbing alcohol? if so, i tried that but prefer boiling..

Methyl hydrate is methanol. I'm with Chucky - stay away from methanol, you will go blind when you drink the broth. Just boil them and drink that broth.

Easy to remember rule:
If you can buy it at Home Depot, don’t drink it:vomit:

I glued a cap on a piece of 1 1/2” ABS Pipe, filled it with this:
Methyl Hydrate - Anti-freeze, windshield wash, solvents, Global supplier of automotive liquids & household chemicals - Recochem Inc.
and put the strings in for a hour. Took em out, let em dry, and they came out clean and bright.
