I had those D' Half-Rounda on an EB-0 with a DiMarzio Model One p'up when I was 19 and that bass was killer. I had a sound I only much later realized was a real winner. Kinda looking for it again now. But the chassis to such a rig is now, for one such as I and most other of us, just plain unaffordable.

Got EB Cobalt on the Epi Pro now. I would def try the Half Rounds though.

You want Bright... Well, DR Sunbeams do that. Myself, I don't seek out Bright so much, so I'm not the guy for this one. However I used to put Smiths on a Peavey Dyna-Bass years ago, and that was a very pleasant sound and feel. Got over quite well with those. But now I'm more a flats guy.

I started on an Epi EB0, wonderfully constructed actually including the frets. Under $200 new if you fancy a side job after the house remodel!

Ha! Well you know that's a fun idea. Straight back to the Model One, and I'd drop a Supertone onto it. And a brass pickguard.

EB-0 was my second bass ever. A Gibson, bought it beat up as near-Hell. Went to visit my old man and we refinished it with marine spar varnish, put a brass pg on it. Did the Model One after I got back home. Played the hell out of it. Then sold it to buy my girlfriend a ferret for her birthday.

I had never heard that "copies" were destroyed.
I thought the lawsuit was about the Les Paul open book headstock shape and the settlement was that Ibanez would change the headstock on it's Les Pauls, which it did in about 1975.
I saw that Ibanez TBird on eBay a while back- the pickups look similar to the minibucker in the bridge position of my Flying V.

Greco on the left, Ibanez on the right...........The kinship is pretty apparent at first glance. The Greco is the Bird that RAWRS, the Ibanez, not so much. I don't regret selling it.

I'm such a philistine, I don't mind replacing vintage pickups for whatever strikes my fancy. If it plays well, the sound can always be changed. If its a dead stick, though, the best pickups in the world won't make me wanna play it.

Not quite a dead stick, but I really couldn't help but compare it to the Greco and it wasn't that good. The pickups were "ok" nothing to get that excited over, it was a bolt neck instead of set neck like the Greco - it wasn't bad, just nothing to get real excited about. I sold it to a fellow TBer tat collects Ibanez lawsuit basses at a modest profit (I think I paid $800.00 for mine) and it traveled to South America.

A 70's/80's Greco is as close to a '63 as I care to get. I'm a t-bird neck breaker. This TBII beater was had for 5 bills. I have since added the graphic from one of our own, available on the bay....!!!

Interesting you say that about the Ibanez pickups- which look very much like the bridge one in my Flying V. The neck pickup in the V is much more powerful than the bridge one.

Love the non-burst natural finish (like this one) the late 70's T-birds had the option to come in.
