Thunderbird Club

Good morning Thunderbird friends. I am on the road this week. Waking up this morning in warm, sunny Wenatchee. Just before leaving town a new (to me anyway) Gibson found it way to me. I have not gotten to spend much time with her, but loved what I have heard so far. I looked at these some years ago when they were on the Gibson website. I suspect they didn't sell very well as they weren't up there long.
She is a 2013 Gibson model 335. I don't know much about them, but received a little info from Gibson's customer service. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day
These old listings have some specs

They had already gotten a bit schmaltzy- even sappy at times- but post-Kath I lost what little interest I still had.
My daughter and I have been going to Chicago concerts about once a year for 12 years +/-. Live, they're still pretty exciting-especially when they're a double bill with EWF. They mostly do their hits, both rockin' and schmaltzy and the crowd ranges in age from teens to ninety y/o's. Always end with 25 or 6 to 4. They're down to 3 originals(Lamm, Loughnane, and Pankow)and the bass and drum chairs have been revolving lately. We missed them on their most recent tour, dunno if we'll go anymore.

I now understand the logic of the Hipshot D-Tuner. I tuned the couch bass to drop D last week so that I could learn Killing in the Name of (which is much easier than expected; I was probably overthinking it). But it is just a PITA to tune down to play a song then tune back up to play something else. Maybe I need another bass to have tuned to drop D.

The PinkBird is officially out for delivery again today as of almost 9:00 am. That seems a bit late, but if it gets here this afternoon, it's fine with me.

It's not sunny today. Maybe it will make it this time.

It'll be sunny later today Will, I didn't wear a coat today, the ride in on the train was a bit cool. Were I you, I'd be out on the street keeping a sharp eye out for the UPS truck - Or me heisting it :roflmao:

I played with a big band that had “Play that Funky Music” and “Vehicle” on their song list. Seemed like it could be cool...until I heard the arrangements.
I haven't done either of those, but if they're arranged to maintain a 'big band' sound, they don't sound rock.

Played through a couple of these last night....,love them...my buddy wants 300 for the pair..

Good price! I read an article about Bergantino in BassPlayer mag and his story was interesting. He isn't a player but developed his line as an engineer/designer. Sorta like Leo Fender in that regard. What did those cabs offer that you really liked?

You need both, of course. D-tuners on all your bass guitars is the way to go. Another reason for the D-tuner is so that if a song is in D, and it ends on the root, you can flip the lever and rumble the floor to give the song a proper send-off, even if the low D isn't appropriate any other time in the song.

I'm on high alert for both! Sparkly bass, followed by sparkly queen. I just hope the sparkly bass makes it the extra two blocks north before getting snagged. It is in a plain, brown wrapper, of course.

[edit] And, of course, it's still on the truck somewhere, I guess. At least there's no "emergency situation or severe weather conditions" reported on the tracking yet. UPS did have a banner across the top warning of severe weather conditions - in Illinois.

But what would I do with just a D-Tuner? I need a new bass to put it on.
Ah, the age old D-Tuner/ Bass scenario has come home to roost! I told the boys at the lab that we shouldn't abandon this research!!!
Will we ever know the answer to this perennially vexing problem: Which comes first, the tuner or the bass?

or is it: Which tastes better, the tuna or the bass?

It's 2pm... I should stop this nonsense and go get some espresso...

I use one to drop my E to Eb for Sledgehammer and sometimes Superstition. It’s a lot quicker than changing basses but you can’t be playing on autopilot with one string down a semitone:eek:
