My favorite strap was made by Ernie Ball, but no longer made. I have 4 of them, all have Schaller strap locks as do my basses so they're all inter-changeable. They extend from 38" to 68". Just bummed they no longer make them. Might have to look at the Levy's for future needs.

Maybe I am way off, and I guess it doesn't matter really but here goes!
So the 2014 models utilize a different serial number, 14 for year followed by 00 then a 1 for the first one made based on the Gibson website video.
So #1 would be 14001.
So their site explains their process and says in one paragraph that they make about 2500 guitars a week in Nashville. So I would think that a bass in the 140083xxx range would be second week or so in August! Does that sound about right? I wonder how many of those are basses, let alone thunderbirds, why would they use one single sequential serial number system irregardless of the guitar or bass it was going on?
Just wondering!

I guess they have one database for all instruments and when they look up a number they find all information anyway.

Well, we know where all the Thunderbirds end up in the end. Where they go in the mean time is a mystery.

It amazes me that Gibson can sell 130K guitars and bass guitars, but then again, there's a whole lot of Guitar Centers and other shops out there. If each of 30K shops sells four guitars worldwide, that just about does it. What it also means is there's going to be a completely depressed market for used guitars one day soon, since 7ender and everyone else is probably cranking out the same number. At least Gibson is spread over electric guitars, acoustic guitars, archtops, bass guitars and who knows what all else.

No idea... But speaking of mandolins; I wouldn't mind finding a Mandobird one day - They are kinda cute... :)

I read somewhere that a guy heard from a friend that he overheard someone wearing a tin foil hat whispering something about a plea bargain Gibson made with the Feds a few years back during the factory raid. Apparently the deal required Gibson to gradually sell all their bass guitar inventory to the military. That's why there arent any 2016 models available, Gibson is making all bass models exclusive to the armed forces.

I think it might have something to do with an article I read on the internet about the military perfecting the infamous "Brown Note". The plan is to have Thunderbirds, SGs and EBs lead the battle on an attack with a wall of SVT rigs in front while blasting the brown note at full volume thereby incapacitating the enemy without firing a shot. In fact the new EB bass was supposedly a code name for an "Exceptionally Brown" bass.

Now, I just need to find a way to update a wiki page:whistle:
