Thunderbird Club

I have the Hipshot Supertone on my 2001 ebony Bird and had one on my RD reissue (Novoselic model). I like the bridge a LOT and like how it gets the action as low as I want it. The looks/size don't bother me at all. Not the prettiest thing but then, neither am I. It will leave an impression on the body but my 2001 has a headstock repair so I'm not worried about the imprint hurting the value. I understand that thought process tho and would not install it on my 50th Anniversary Bird.

Don't let Andy fool ya, he's a good looking Guy! :)

Everyone in this club is aging as well as the thunderbirds they own! It's what keeps us young :D

Also, on my bird aspect, it's nearly finished. I filled in gaps on the neck's heel & sanded smooth. I had to go radius the fretboard because it wasn't as done as i thought it was few days ago, & with that, i had to re-stain it. In the process of cutting each fret length & then the fun part of filling the excess off :sour: Long night, but at least if i get everything done tonight, monday i'll be able to paint the whole neck black & then varnish after a weeks time. I'll be sure to post some pictures late tonight for all curious :P

Crate BT-350 into DIY'd 210 combo for highs, BFM T-24 for lows. As we say in Rhode Island, "Yuge".

What?

How the DIY cab working?

Combo has been pretty much a winner. It's functioning well on its own for small-room reggae gigs (lots o'bottom), and just got the bi-amp thing cooked up finally. We're booked all next summer at an outdoor bar that's part of a hotel in Newport RI, and that dub-mongering situation will be handled handily methinks by the monster pictured above.

Thanks for asking!

Contemplating chroming out the Zebrabird. Black hardware is really not my speed, and I way prefer the look of the 60s birds than the modern ones. If I do I'll keep it all reversible, probably grab a set of those mini-clovers and maybe try to grab some of those Hong Kong pickups (prefer the 60s sounds as well over the overly dark modern versions). @Dadagoboi didn't you use some stick on pickup rings on a build at some point?

Beyond that, was just looking at that '79 in the classifieds, dig the Seafoam. But a couple questions if any of you have some insight. Added string anchor behind the bridge? He says the bridge pup was replaced, but it looks as if both were since neither feature the 3 screws indicative of a 70s build.

I've just discovered that my bridge pickup's wires are loose from the casing...Took it's reading along with the neck pickup.

Neck: 13.75k DC resistance
Bridge: 13.65k DC Resistance. (had jiggled the wire & it had jumped to 13.9K which is probably what it should be)

I'm thinking, i might have to take this one to a pro to get it fixed, unless i do extensive search & it turns out to not be complicated at all. It is epiphone afterwall & it looks like heavy epoxy to "carve".

Any suggestions from builders in this forum?

Took the DC resistance of the bridge pup again & got a reading of 13.85k. (if it sounds weird when it's all back together, i'll bring it to a pro - unless i find a solution online which so far has nothing on TB plus pickups nor the DC value :banghead: )

But here's a teaser of good things to come

& i've just started fretting & i gotta say the radius block is a great way to have all the frets laid out & pressed into the board properly. I'm guessing it'll take me a few hours for all the frets to settle in & then i can start trimming excess & doing a fret level & etc.

More to come, Really gonna be pushing on that deadline of mine!

Sadly, i'm out of super glue im half way done the frets (they're all installed, just not glued in place). So Sunday is when i continue to bash out the neck so it's ready for it's satin black finish on monday. Can't wait, cause in the midst of this refurb, i've also got the Grabber build back in varnish (on it's 6th coat now), & i'm also modifying my batman cosplay in time for the Dawn of Justice movie on march 25th! Lots to do, very little time
