Thunderbird Club

It shipped June of 2014 so around then until now
So it sounds like your bass is at least a year and a half old. My rule of thumb is never put any nitro finish near any type of foam if it's less than a year old. Yours is close to that so I'd proceed with a bit of caution. I suspect short stays (over night or during a gig) in a Hercules hanger won't be a problem for your bass but I'd check it regularly for the first few months jut to be sure.

On non cured nitro, if you get any damage it most likely will be along the left and right side of the headstock just above the nut where the stand grips the bass. The damage might look like a slight haze at first or might feel slightly tacky. If the nitro hasn't fully cured and you leave the bass in the stand for extended periods (days or weeks) it will eventually weld its self to the foam, which isn't good. Another factor that comes into play is heat - typically direct sun type heat (normal room temperatures aren't a concern). If you leave a young nitro finished bass in a foam wrapped stand on an outdoor stage in full sun on a warm day you're asking for problems.

An easy solution if you need a stand and don't want to take any chances - just lay a 6"x6" piece of cotton tee shirt type material in the yoke of the stand before you hang your bass. That will separate it from the foam.

Additional perspective - I have an anniversary Bird that was made in 2013 I assume. I got it in December of 2014. That would make the finish on my bass somewhere between one and two years old at the time I got it. I've been using the Hercules wall hanger for it since day one with no issues. So in essence it's been hanging for over a year and only taken off to play approximately 4 hours a week. No issues to date and I don't anticipate any in the future.

GBass
Awesome, thanks for the input, it lives in its case when not at a gig. Which is only 2-3 a month and maybe an hour each gig. I thought the same thing since it was over a year and approaching 2 now. Thanks. I may cut some r shirt anyway and put it there. And I won't be playing this bass at any outdoor gigs. I have others I use for those gigs. I still love those basses but I wouldn't be sick if rain or something messed them up if you know what I mean.

Nice...

But what's up with all the bar stools? :)
The acoustic and electric players sit sometimes. Is it unusual to see stools on stage?
Our band is me on bass singing high harmony and lead on some songs. Acoustic player who sings lead and occasional harmony and electric player who sings harmony. And the drummer, he beats on stuff. We do a lot of 60's and 70's Rock pop country and also a good bit of newer music just depends on what we like. We use 3 part harmony on slit of our songs. We could play every weekend but can't because of personal schedules. We've been together over 10 years and the other guys before me for 25

It seems I have two numbers:

hillerup 135 & hillerup 305

Also we have another double entry for Mikaelbass:

Mikaelbass 227 & Mikaelbass 230

I don't know if there are others, I just stumbled over these by accident...

Let's just put it down to my liking Single Malt Scotch a little too much and call it good

I will say, sober or not, doing club numbers can be a challenge at times.
Thanks for all the hard work, duplicate numbers or not!

A few years ago I realized I had the potential to have a problem with alcohol, a bit of self realization and counseling really helped, I do still enjoy a drink but not nearly as often and always in moderation (i.e. 1 ), and while I may joke about it in reference to myself I know some of us here have to be very careful in this regard and I respect that.
