Like the first band or the second?
Wasn't even a good buzz. Only time I ever threw up from drinking. That stuff would kill a seasoned wino.Mogen David 20/20. Wonderful stuff-at 17.![]()
My Pro-V has developed a hiss. It was always there but it has become somewhat louder (or I just notice it and get annoyed by it more), but not so bad as to make it unplayable. But it is one of the reasons that I have been looking at changing the electronics (and burning the old ones in accordance with the dictats of Kat).
I don't have a correct answer, but my suspicion is that it is primarily the cheap pre-amp that causes it. And of course, it is gooped so that you can't troubleshoot it. I'm not sure that the pickups are great and in fact, I suspect that the addition of a preamp was probably to try to cover for weak p/u.
Right. I love a well turned phrase.@Gaolee 'like somebody poured a liter of seltzer into the creek' -- that's poetry that is.
Physically deep, not sonic deep. I found them one dimensional. The stock pickups were very deep compared to the passive pickups I have had since. I should have taken one apart to see how it was put together ... maybe that's something you can do, before burning and driving a traction engine over it.
If people want an active bass there are better pickups and pres out there (Invalid Link Removed).
Aw, shucks. But it's not another unintentional band name. More to follow, no doubt.@Gaolee 'like somebody poured a liter of seltzer into the creek' -- that's poetry that is.
Nothing but straight double espresso for me.

I realize the list has gotten rather long but perhaps Our Good Queen will deem this loyal subject worthy of the

I don't know what an Alumitone would do with a preamp. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but then I don't know much about how active electronics work. Here's a science project for someone with time and a little cash: PRO IV (already has the battery box) with a single EMG TB pickup and three EMG controls = V - B/T - M/freq.
Might also be interesting to connect an Alumitone to EMG electronics.

A volume control is all that's needed. Never was one for active electronics.
