I love my EMGs and the Preamp in my Jackson, it works very well for what I do.

Would I spend $US330-$US540 on EMG parts I would never actually use 'in anger'? Never. Happy to enable for the 'battery curious' crowd though.

Volume control? What is this witchcraft? Just a switch -> loud and can't hear it.A volume control is all that's needed. Never was one for active electronics.
You're in good company here, the proud lefties! Please feel free to ask questions, post video, pics etc. You"re #787 -Welcome!
and folks thought NRs were more rare..Psssst. Look closer. Fat string on the bottom, skinny string up top and a misplaced strap button. I suspect that he is a righty who is increasing the value of @BklynKen 's basses by increasing rarity.
That black Tele is gorgeous
Agreed Chuck, especially since it has those G&L p'up's in there.
So, can I count you as my first supporter in my campaign to mount these :

I’ll take the bait. Another point we’ll agree to disagree on. I like it. On a classic Tele I can’t imagine anything else.Shallow, but honest!
Actually, I think you have a lot of company in the Ugly Tele Headstock Camp.
It would be a total hoot to open a thread in GenPop seeking comments about the odd Tele Headstock design. I bet the thread wouldn't even get to page two before fights ensued, might even be popcorn worthy before the shutdown. I'll have to put that on my list of things to do for entertainment on the next rainy dreary day here in SoCal - Troll Fender fanboyz with an ugly HS discussion.

As a proud owner of a ‘15, I’m glad Gibson was willing to mess with tradition, if only for one year. I don’t imagine we’ll see anything like that in Thunderbirds again anytime soon.Henry J. thought too much about innovation and came up with the Firebird X. Funny thing is that onboard effects have been around since forever, so it wasn't exactly an innovation as far as I know. Then there were the automatic tuners that got removed right away. Sometimes innovation works. Sometimes not so much. I have to give Gibson credit for coming up with the new EB in 2013. I don't know why they changed it, but since they did, it seems to be holding its own. Same with some of the other semi-traditional bass guitars they have come up with lately. There were a number of different bass guitars and guitars in the '70s and '80s. They don't make most of them now. They don't make mudbuckers any more, but they make something else that looks the same. My take is that Gibson guitars and bass guitars are a bit more labor intensive than Fenders, which are essentially CNC products with a bit of wood selection involved. Gibson certainly uses plenty of automation where they can, but you don't build an archtop with CNC. Maybe a Les Paul or Thunderbird could be done with more automation than less.
However it works, it's a somewhat different approach, especially since Gibson doesn't do much with bolt on necks.
A vodka Martini isn't a Martini though! ( Uh oh, this could start a heated debate! ).As long as it's a Vodka martini...

never seen one of these Grecos?Yep - that's what's going on there. Looking at it it does have the advantage of having an upper horn. However, as I play over the bridge pu and palm-mute a lot those controls in that location would not work for me. Otherwise it would be interesting to play to see how the ergonomics/balance does.
