Thunderbird Club

I’ll take the bait. Another point we’ll agree to disagree on. I like it. On a classic Tele I can’t imagine anything else.
I personally like the Tele headstock. If I were doing a Fenderbird I'd strongly consider a reverse Tele headstock vs the standard Fender Jazz/P bass style.

?...
In the "re string" process I decided to go with "DR Black Beauty Taper Heavies" Per "Geezers" recommendation!!
Even though he's not a "Bird Enthusiast" as far as I know, tell you what, it seems that these strings were made for them!! If anyone in "TB Land" is considering a change string wise, I highly recommend you give these a shot, it requires a bit of a "tweak" being that only the "core" rides the "saddle"

But well worth the effort!! They also come in a standard set so it's relatively easy to acquire them, I for one will NEVER go back!!
The SKU # I believe is BKBT50

Long Live The Queen!!!
I ordered a set of the BB Taper Heavies last week. They should be here later this week. Can't wait to try them on my 2015 TBird. I'll report back to the clan here with my findings as well. I've used BB strings on many of my basses but never the Taper Heavies, I'm expecting great things. I might have to put the plate back under my Babicz bridge as the E string saddle is currently just about fully up with normal non tapers.

Thanks for the effort. Huh. I’d go for it had She Who Must Be Obeyed not been paying such close attention to my flock these days. But TBO, I certainly don’t need another bass until the EPI Vintage Pro NRs come out in a few months.
I have passed up a half dozen good deals on different basses this year that I would have normally jumped all over. All in the hopes that I'll be ready to pounce when Eppi releases a NR-VP in January. I don't even care what colors it comes in, I just want the damn bass.

Fosters? You really don’t like beer, do you.
Truthfully, I never really acquired a taste for beer. Sure I can drink it if it's ice cold and served in a frosted mug. I'm a sociable drinker when out with others who drink beer, I usually buy the first couple of rounds, and drink with the best of them. However, my alcoholic preferences are more along the lines of mixed drinks or wine, specifically Gin mixes or Tequila mixes, not so much Scotch, Vodka or Bourbon drinks.

bedtime..

We were sadly disappointed with the pubs during our trip this summer. It has changed a lot since my school days there in ‘77 and another long stay during the summer of ‘83. The main issue IMO is that so many are gone those that remain are packed. But we were only in the big cities during the trip. I can’t speak to the towns and villages. Hoping to return again soon as I love the place.

Are real estate values a factor in the pubs disappearing?

In my hometown of Morley, which is about 5 miles from Leeds, about half the pubs have shut down. Some have been converted to flats and others demolished to build on.
Main reason is cost, £3.50 a pint, for std beers. Punters cant afford to be in them every night and owners thus cant afford to keep them open. It seems the new going out is staying in with friends and family in a more safe environment. A carry out case of 15 500ml, of John Smiths or Tetleys is about £15, pound a pint.

Cheaper than milk!

Up north milk is £1 for 4 pints, approx 2 litre.
1 litre petrol/diesel £1.30, mostly tax.
20 Marlboro £11.50, again mostly tax.
NHS, priceless.
Thunderbirds, Epi, new about £400 dependant on model.
Give up smoking and driving, and you have a new Epi in no time, then.

$7 for a pint of Stella locally...pretty steep. Pints of PBR are 2 bucks, 1 during happy hour...not bad. smokes are about less than half..
are folks still going to Cherbourg for cigarette runs?

I really don't understand Stella Artois. People pay a premium for what I would politely describe as an ambiguously German, French, Danish, Belgian version of Bud. It is even made by the makers of Bud. Slick advertising and a stemmed glass have somehow brainwashed the masses into a dysgeusic malaise making them think that THAT is beer. Not that I have strong feelings on the matter...

Agreed. I don't find Stella any better than PBR.
