Love that bass in black.....So badass! I played mine for one set last Saturday night, it's a very authoritative and growly bass - love it!
The pickups are fantastic in the LP basses IMO.

Overtones of promise!NBAD! (NewBassAmpDay) Sorta. Between comments here and reviews online, the Fender Rumble seemed like the best idea for an amp I could use for practice, small gigs, and plugging into a PA. A nearby GC had a used but nearly new Rumble 100 v3 for $204. Nearly a third off, so why not? But they've only had it since Oct 7, and Austin's "pawn shop" laws require them not to let it out the door before 30 days. I put it on layaway, came home, and played (as usual) through my old Kalamazoo. It still sounds honky (ahem!) but now I can hear overtones of promise.
I missed NPD when I brought the MXR Phase 95 home. Not a fancypants pedal, but then I'm not a fancypants player, other than owning two of the sexiest bass guitars on the planet.
I had an NPD yesterday, I got a Behringer SF300 Super Fuzz (Boss FZ-2 clone).I missed NPD when I brought the MXR Phase 95 home. Not a fancypants pedal, but then I'm not a fancypants player
I don't hate mine. It came with Barts(factory). Very strong pups. Wherever I have an amp's volume level set for my TBird @ full volume, I hafta run the LPB25 @ about 5-6, or cut the amp volume a lot. From just a little time I have played it it does sound good. Was reading an Old Thread on Les Paul basses and there was so much Hate. Oh Well.
My band TSC's is learning WL right now - it is one of my all-time favorite songs. I'm covering the baritone part including the intro-lead. (our guitarist takes the second half of it) We're playing it in C for our singer Kirstin. Here's the version we are playing with a different outro than the radio released version - and yes - of course I play it with a pick & palm-muting.
I don't palm mute it - I shove foam under the strings at the bridge. I think that's what Carole Kaye did. Anyway, I have enough to do, playing the bass and singing the song. We're playing it in the original key as a 3 piece band. I think WL has one of the most beautiful melodies ever. Enjoy playing your version! Cheers!

It might just have extra hot pickups like a 2015 Thunderbird.active?
Yup. Sidestory: when I first got the LPB25, it sounded really good but the longer I played it(weeks)the sound seemed to weaken. I thought maybe the jack was dirty or had gotten loose, so I removed the control cavity cover.active?
A battery!
I had no idea the thing was active and at that time I knew nothing about Barts.[still don't know much]^^^^^^^^^^^It might just have extra hot pickups like a 2015 Thunderbird.
Actually, Carol Kaye taped a piece of felt over the strings.I don't palm mute it - I shove foam under the strings at the bridge. I think that's what Carole Kaye did. They'll have to pry my Thunderbird from my cold, dead hands. . . Happy Halloween all!
Over/under. Probably no difference in tone. Though using tape IS unusual. Hmmmm?Actually, Carol Kaye taped a piece of felt over the strings.
yeah, thought so. what year is it? seems like when Barts became popular (late 70s?) they were a direct swap for passive basses much like DiMarzios and unlike EMGs that always needed a battery. today, most Bart equipped basses seem to sport batteries. dunno if it's because they have active preamps or the newer pups themselves require them (like EMGs). i have a single 9 Volt batt in the Barts/preamp combo on my Gretsch but it can run on 18 Vdc (two batteries) as well. haven't tried that but the basses i do have running on two batts have enormous headroom and are VERY hot....not a big active guy but some basses' signature sound come from those active setups (MM, Steinbergers, Status, Alembic..)..Yup.
