Thunderbird Club

Funny I was talking about the one in Tacoma!!

LOL! Hopefully I've saved you a trip, the bass dept in that store is totally forgettable. However, the Bass Shop and Thunder Road guitars recently moved and while the present shop is small they'll be expanding the shop greatly starting in January - They are worth the trip from Tacoma!

Yeah, we do have our vagrant population overgrowth recently. It's gotten a lot more pronounced in the last five to eight years. I hardly notice any more, which may not be such a good thing.
Part of why I stick to Tacoma and do everything I can to avoid going North of the County line. ;)
I like my gritty little city.

There's a few of us here that have 2015 TBirds. Very interesting bass! Correct on the only year for coil taps. It's a very unique offering in the TBird lineup - eclectic and wonderfully unorthodox compared to my other TBirds, yet very familiar in look and feel.

I can't speak for the others, but in full Humbucker mode mine's an absolute screamer, nothing tame about her when the switches are flipped on. But flip the toggles over to single coil and she settles right down, drops a bit in volume, thins out a bit in tone and plays very nicely with fussy pedals that don't get along well with Humbuckers. She's strung up with super heavy Black Beauties right now that allow a ton of digging in for hard rockin fun so I don't play her in split mode very often.

When ever I want to melt away the days stress I just bring up "Sweet Emotion" on YouTube, grab the 2015 and jam along as loud as I can get away with (which is pretty damn loud). If you can find one for less than $1500 jump on it, they don't seem to be getting any cheaper.

Here is a great price on a 2015 at GC:

My kid lives in Cedar Fort, out near-ish to where the big FB Data Center is going in. We generally visit him annually around the Thanksgiving holiday (because both of our birthdays fall during that time). We usually spend a lot of time sight-seeing around the area and go to the first day of the lights at Temple Square (Black Friday). None of us are Mormon, but it's fun and pretty and always says "It's Christmas time now". And unlike most other cities I frequent (looking at you Seattle), the downtown area is generally quite clean of litter and free of large numbers of homeless pitching tents on the sidewalks. I've always enjoyed it there and never been hassled by either over-zealous religious types or pushy homeless demanding spare change, which is way more than I can say for other places (again, looking at you Seattle).
You are trying to tempt me to comment on both religion and politics - two forbidden topics. Then again, if it is two forbidden topics, maybe they cancel out?o_O

Nope, you aren't going to tempt me.

:D:thumbsup:

Additional .02... I found my Epi Classic Pro by its lonesome on the wall at a local GC for $250. It's a star, my fav bass to rock out with. Feels great, barks like a beast, the balance is perfect. It's a pleasure to lean into.

Epi seems to have won big. If you're short for a Gibson, the Epi is not a second-stringer, it's first-rate in its own right.[/QUOTE
+1000 on the Classic Pro

Seattle gets a bad rap in the media and some of it is certainly justified, but the city has taken a much more active stance of the homeless tents on sidewalks issue. I work in Pioneer Square within a block of the Union Gospel Mission (Heart of the Storm) and over the last 6 months or so the city has actively discouraged tents and cleaned them up quickly. That said, the homeless/mental health remain a huge challenge with no easy answers.

Did someone say CP? ;)

I was tempted to respond to the original post, but we already have too many out of state people moving in, so didn't want to advertise.

We may not have the best coffee here, but I will put Kiitos IPA up against any beer in the world ( I am a beer snob, and have traveled extensively, lived in Europe for a couple of years). In November we joined the rest of their world, and no longer are saddled with 3.2% beer.

So you might be surprised if you visit SLC, downtown Ogden, or Park City at how civilized it can be here, sadly not so much a lot of other cities in Utah.

I was in Utah some months back for a wedding (a cousin, that side of the family is kinda sorta Mormon), St George, and i went to the only bar in town, the One and Only. I knew they were strict on liquor but 3.2% beer blew my damn mind. Like, 3.2% Coors Banquet? They had to water it down just for Utah. I don't think I could have got drunk if I tried, my bladder would have exploded long before I got a buzz. The wedding was also dry, so I did the only reasonable thing: brought along a handle of 100 Proof Evan Williams.

Glad to hear they're finally allowing full percentage Coors.

I have a dear friend who is a Mormon (and is quite observant at home). We only get to see each other once every couple of years these days, but we always go out for a steak and a good bottle of Cabernet. His line is that since his religion allows forgiveness for all sins, he is covered.

And it ages beautifully. My only concern about a white VP is how the finish would age. That and trying to figure out what to do with yet another Thunderbird. All the ones I have don't get enough exercise as it is.

My '89 is a Nitro finish that has steadily aged and turned yellow over the years - at first I wasn't happy about it at all but now I view it with great affection. It has it's shared of dings and worn off paint, all honest wear that happened because I was playing it. It celebrated being 30 this year!
My White VP won't be doing any of that, finish is indestructible there.

That first one really is a good price these days. The second one is cheaper than I have seen a '15 for a while. It makes me happy to already have one.

I am pretty sure you could tow the bolt-on Epi to Japan behind an oil tanker and nothing would happen to the finish. Epi doesn't get stingy with the poly.

Both are excellent prices, especially considering they both come with hard cases and the GC no questions asked return policy. Anybody sitting on the 2015 purchase fence should be jumping on one of these!
