In years of working with, and generally being around teens, I have often found myself asking, “Who is supposed to be the adult here?” When looking at issues involving teens and adults. Hint: in these cases the adult was acting more juvenile or just plain childish.

There is a great deal of prejudice, especially amoungst those that are followers of Church of Leo's Holy Relics. Read what Geddy has said about birds. He teased Pete Way when they toured together, but since doing the BBoB he discovered how great birds are in low mids and wishes he had known that years ago.

It was interesting at my Local L&M one time that I was talking with one of the bass players on staff. He had never tried a JC. I said that I love mine for the low mids and growly tone I get out of it. He hadn't thought that possible with a semi-hollow. He pulled one off the wall and plugged in. Was really surprised at the rock sound he got out of it. And then was impressed with how it sounded doing slappity poppity. The older bass player on staff later said that he had discovered the JC a while back and it was in high rotation for him for its versatility.

It is I think simple prejudice that keeps people using narrow categories for their basses. Because why bother thinking when you can just assume.

While I know players with diverse collections, I also know players who only play Strats and Teles, or Les Pauls and ES335s, or whatever. I have a very good friend who only plays Fender P basses. He just won't play anything else. To each his own. I own B.C. Riches, Ibanezes, ESPs and the Bird. I play things that make me smile, each for different reasons.

It’s possible it was glued in with epoxy and they couldn’t get it pushed in all the way because they put too much epoxy in there.
If you can’t move it up or down that’s the most likely scenario.

Sweet! And that’s the joy of the VP. It looks and sounds like an old Thunderbird, but I don’t worry about taking it to gigs in sketchy locations. The bass and case only cost me $800.

I have always treated hollow body basses with a little more paranoia than solid bodies.

The Casady is a beast and not really that delicate. It can cop a Pbass tone easily with flats and get snarly with roundwounds.
The only trouble I have had is getting feedback at reggae rehearsals in small rooms.

It’s would take a couple extra seconds during assembly to screw them in instead of banging ‘em down. Time is money. But one would think.....
