I’ve probably seen every Dave’s episode there is, including the crazy one where he ground metal off the bottom of a three point to lower it. But someone wanting to learn how to work on guitars can learn a ton from him. I don’t have a lot to do when I travel for work, so that’s my entertainment. I know, boring.
Tomorrow is shim day and we’ll see how it goes. I’ll be using one of the slanted whole pocket shims. One step at a time.
You're going to be wondering why you didn’t do it earlier!
The whole pocket shims are great, but I just use a 1/2” wide strip of veneer or thick business card (with the corners trimmed so it fits in end of the neck pocket).
I’ve never noticed any loss of sustain or resonance doing that.
