I've suffered from tinnitus in my right ear for a long time now. I got some strange ear infection a while back that caused my ear drum to swell up to a very painful point. Ever since then the tinnitus has been a thing, often loud enough it keeps me up at night. Luckily tho, I'm partly deaf in the left ear, so no tinnitus in that one! :roflmao:

I got my EDM/rave-up-bound daughter a set of Eargasm TM thingies. -20 or so. Yep, poor old Pete Townsend (uh-oh, lol...) is damn near deaf from not wearing ear plugs.

Man, my experience with the Burners was the complete opposite of all the positives ya'll are talking about.
They just didn't work for me. The only SS's that stand, or stood a chance are the Dunlop SuperBrights.
I'm gonna try em again.

Yeah. Patience is a virtue. I put a freebie set of Dunlop Superbrights on the PB Epi; didn't really like them at first. But after about six weeks or so they settled in and sound pretty damn good. I'll try the Burners on the Silverbird. It'll give me a chance to compare the two. I'm guessing they're somewhat similar, we'll see. I've got a 7ender PJ that is my P for rounds (generally just turn the Bridge PUP off) that needs a string change. So if the Burners aren't a match for me on the Silverburst, I'll try them on that. My problem is too many basses right now and not enough time to give them all consistent workouts. The day job really messes that up.

Get one of those white noise devices. They can help. I have a bit of tinnitus in my left ear. I am lucky that it is not so bad, but it has been pretty bad in the past and it sucks.

I stand partly corrected and am sitting as I type this.

Wikipedia says soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones.


But in truth, I think what we can all agree on is that Pat Methany is pretty much spot on:
Pat Metheny stated he was a "pop" saxophonist "but was not really an advanced player, even in that style", adding that he had "major rhythmic problems" and his "harmonic and melodic vocabulary was extremely limited, mostly to pentatonic based and blues-lick derived patterns".​

There's also the Keith Moon and dynamite issue to think about when considering Townsend's hearing loss.
