I just found out yesterday (ok, I'm always a day late on new tech), trying to learn Good Times Bad Times, found a great tutorial on YouTube (in Brazilian?), he slows down the tempo to demonstrate, and also, there is a looper app you can add to YouTube.

There are tutorials on most famous bass lines, but they’re not all of them are correct. I was trying to figure out how to play the end part in Saturday in the Park recently and went though 8 YouTube videos before I found one that was actually playing something close.

Yup, just like tab. Still the Amazing Slowdowner and CDs for 99% of my learning.

Speaking of Miami....My band Daisy Chain shared the stage with this band, Nuclear Valdez. We had the same management along with The Mavericks, Marilyn Manson, etc. back in '89 so we played with all of them. This song is simply and totally incredible and came out just about when grunge was cranking up....These guys ended back in their day jobs. What a song !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is good. From my wasteland period. Had two kids, no internet to keep current. Did not know of them. Vaguely know the Mavericks. And of course Manson. Don’t know if I know Daisy Chain. There was a surf-punk band with that name, you?

Wow. Hadn’t thought of playing that since about ‘80. It is a fun song. I’ll have to get reacquainted with it.

I remember the Mavericks. Their bass player, Bob Reynolds and I were friendly, and the guitarist that was in the band when they got their first label deal (Ben Peeler) ended up in my band, The Volunteers, for a while.
I never knew Nuclear Valdez, but had heard of them and thought they had a cool name...
Miami was a pretty happening scene in the 80s.

I know nothing about soapbars pickups 1 9/16 x 3 9/16" is the same route as most thunderbirds correct?

I play rock punk and jazz, sometimes in the same song. Where do I begin to look for pickups?

I’m thinking I want to be cheap too....

Those are probably the same as the ones that were on eBay in the past. I have them in the Flamingo, and they sound very good. They are not Thunderbuckers or Lulls, but they are plenty good. Plus, chrome.

I’m seeing the Seymour Duncan SSB-4s set is $125, That’s not too much of a stretch as long as they sound good.

I have them in my Orville, they're not bad, sound better with the amp turned up.

I didn’t know about the Mavericks till I moved to Austin. Flaco, Raul Malo, all those cats.

I got a Roland electric piano for a case of beer last week.
It was intermittent on some notes, but it doesn’t seem like it’s the key contacts.
Opened her up today and sprayed/reseated about 20 board connectors.

Thanks, I can speak Spanish and Mexican, but couldn't get anything out of what he was saying. He's really close to nailing JPJ in that song IMO.
