Your bass is well incorporated in the mix. That's the way it should be.

Thunderbird front and centre

Thanks!I *really* like this. It blends era sounds from the 80s and 90s with later vibes as well. And I was really digging the bass in my face! Circling back in 3 2 1 ...

Nice work! It’s good to get them in a playable weight range.A few days ago I posted a pic of my black modified Tele-style P-bass here which I call the T2K Mk II. (Tele 2000 - second version) Here's another pic of it. It 'was' heavy ash at 10lbs/2oz so today I "chambered" it, basically filling it full of multi-sized holes under the large '70s Tele-bass style pg. I did it on a friends industrial drill-press. I went down 1" leaving 1/4" at the base of each Forstner bit hole. It is now 9lbs/8oz so I lost 10oz which is pretty good all things considered. My custom builds are all lighter but nine and a half pounds is acceptable. I've yet to test/assess it for any sound/tonal difference but if there is any difference it will most likely be subtle. It's an awesome sounding bass - it's what L2000's are know for.
I kept the pics as thumbnails as they are not of a THUNDERBIRD

Sorta like this? They were made for a while and are pretty heavy duty/deluxe. I was lucky to score a NOS one in the late '90s for $50. They turn up for sale used now and then for around $200 and up. Its fuchsia colored interior with satin cover sheet is very funerary.

That may happen, or, as in the case of many, your taste in instruments might vary over time. It is all SO subjective. Fortunately, there are many different basses available today to satisfy individual preferences, including wonderful Thunderbirds! Cheers.I have an Embassy Pro, a Ric and three different J-types.
My idea was to gain first-hand experience with these and so be able to eliminate some with peace of mind (so I wouldn't agonize over what I was missing) and choose a favorite, but I haven't been able to do it. I can't even eliminate rounds.
It's as though they're children and I must love them equally. Not rational.
I want to study and practice more. Suspect that if I could turn my mind to that, then in the course of being focused on something else one of these basses would get picked up more often than the others and a favorite would gradually emerge.
At the risk of sounding sexist I think mini dresses and hot pants should be required attire. While the 60's pop scene is not my thing... the dancing girl in a mini dress kept me listening.![]()

Was it my imagination or did I see some G&L's around here the other day!?
Behold the recent GAS Attack!!
The nut width & SS are a little tight for my taste in regards to 5 bangers BUT these "MFD" PU'S which IMHO stands for something I can quite "elaborate" on this forum are SO FLIPPING POWERFUL that if I "dig in" a little too much they actually pull the string to them like a junkyard electromagnet picking up a wreck!!
And when they do it makes a loud THUD that makes me JUMP right out of my skin!!
I would think I would be able to adjust them although I'm thinking they would probably have to be on the floor so they don't pull the Strings LOL
Anyone out there in TB Land have any advice on this??
Also if memory serves, there was also a thread on "Flatwounds" recently??
This piece came to me with "EB Cobalt Flats" if I got that right??
I must say I REALLY like them!! At first I thought they were "Ground Wounds" but to my surprise, they are "Flatties"
To my touch they feel a tad "lumpy" View attachment 3770877 View attachment 3770878 But a nice balance of mids & highs although perhaps my observations are a tad skewed being I'm on a "strange" but not bad...

You're gonna give Jeff a heart attack.I'm working on the dress for later today......Crossdressing stress relief!
There will be pics!
Thanks & I appreciate that!! I suppose I should have stated initially that this IS a first!! That's why I was so "surprised"My strings are 1/8" from the pu poles and I don't experience this. I do play with a pretty light touch and even using a pick I don't pluck that hard usually. I'd just lower them until it's not an issue.
