Just the plain Thunderbird IV model, not CP or VP.
I tried to love (or even like) the Midtown Standard and Signature, and while they looked great in PB, both were thumbs down all around from my band. Every time, they begged me to go back to my Jack Casady. Easy ask, as it's half the price...
bands that tell their players what to or not to play are outta line....unless the bass doesn't hold tune or intermittently cuts in and out they should worry about their stuff..
I have three with the standard Epi PUPs. None of them have that issue.
No fragile egos in this band. If a guitar tone isn't cutting it, a drum fill isn't working, or a vocal doesn't work, we're not shy to talk about. You'll notice I never said my band "told me to go back to my Jackbass," they "begged me." They notice what I play, and the bass tone...especially my drummer, he's got a great ear.

After turning everything "off", both vol pots and tone pot, I can still hear the bass through the amp though obviously at a much lower volume. So it never shuts off the volume completely. Of course it varies with how loud the amp is set, if set at a low volume then yes I won't hear anything. If set at playable with a drummer volume, then I get a nice bedroom practice level of output with everything turned down. Not looking to fix it but just seems odd.

I'll have to see if my bolt-on 'Bird does that. It's a good excuse to pull it out and play it. It hasn't got much love for a while. I don't remember every even thinking what happens when the pots are all rolled off all the way. There may be some kind of short in one of the pots on your bass.
Was it a drop in replacement or did you have to drill some new screw holes (ahem)?
I think he endorsed them for a period.
