So... I made an offer on a white CP. The price seemed too good to be true, but I went for it. Turned out he had the price wrong. He declined the offer and bumped the price up 100. Which makes a lot more sense[0]. The original price (359[1] + 120 shipping) was a no-brainer if true. Oh, well. If shipping weren't so high I might still go for it. Now I'm eyeballing another one. Sheesh. Maybe I'll sell a guitar. I never really play those any more.

[1] I would have just hit "buy" but figured my wife would be happier if it came in under 500 with tax.[2]
[2] Reverb question: If you add something to your cart and buy it, can the seller legally say, "Oops! My bad" and reprice it? I almost certainly wouldn't have fought him, even though it was a pretty bad mistake on his end. Always proof-read your ads!

All Parts, MIJ, Jazz neck with a rosewood board. (The neck was more Tele like in its profile, so I had shave down to the same dimensions as a maple, Geddy Lee Jazz neck) It feels very close to the T-Bird. Very thin but the nut

Given that they dropped everything but the VP, I think there's room for a NR VP.



Gibson? Innovative? They seem to thrive on new versions of the same guitar with different paint schemes, etc. Have they tried major innovation since the RoboTuners?

There’re still doing the Cassidy, Viola, Rumblekat and the Kramer D-1. They’ve dropped the Embassy and EBs. Plenty of room at the factory for the Vintage Pro NR.

Not sure how that works on Reverb. I’ve noticed a few errors since I’ve been closely following birds the past several months. I saw the one you’re talking about; almost went for it. The bay has a lot more messed up ads. For example, I keep getting emails about an Epi labeled as a Blackbird (which I’m looking for) that is a Goth from the pics.

Not uniquely a Gibson problem. 7ender likes to innovate by adding the words classic, elite, custom, and/or american to the name of Ps and Js.

You could argue that the DiCola pickups are an innovation, or at least something new.

You can't go wrong with a 2015 Thunderbird. They are their own thing. But, if you buy one, you have to put a black pickguard on it with a gold logo. That's the one tested and required upgrade.

That thing sold quick. Otherwise, I might have bought it by now. I like those pickups, the weight was low, and the condition was fine. Some dings, but nothing really bad or in a visually annoying spot.

Next week she gets a new nut, new TI jazz flat strings, and a chrome output jack.
Debated a chrome Babicz bridge, but opted for the stock. Not a fan of the look of the Hipshot bridge...looks like it has an underbite, and is actually a tab bit too wide on a T-bird IMO.

Future considerations: Chrome pup covers and professional refinish in Pelham Blue?

I messaged a seller last week who was selling an Epiphone Vintage Pro labeled as a "Classic Pro." I've done the same with sellers who called a "Midtown Standard" a "Midtown Signature," and vice versa. I would hope that if I did the same, someone would kindly set me straight. But if my price is wrong, and it sells...that's on me. Shame on me.

Hey - at the end of the day it's your bass and you can do whatever you want to it regardless of anyone else's opinion, especially mine. I'm an aesthetics nerd - it's just something I do. I replaced the original gold plastic knobs on my Custom Kraft because I thought they looked cheesy. (no other 'gold' on the bass) Some basses get it right right out of the gate, others benefit from tweaking. It's all pretty subjective.

You guys are posting pictures of your passed best friends and it's tugging at my heart. Here is mine, his name was Clipper, think American football "clipping", he passed about seven years ago and I'm still pretty crushed he isn't with me anymore.

Fortunately mine is still around. For how much longer I don't know. His cancer could easily come back and we may or may not know it. That pic of Clipper is something else. I can see why you still miss him.
