There was no bass guitar IN The Doors*. That's why I refer to their 'bass player' as Claude Rains-"The Invisible Man" from the movie of the same name.I thought there was no bass guitar in The Doors.
They didn't start producing basses until August of 1976. Their first year or so of products were all hybrid SS/tube amplifiers, IIRC.I would think #1 used a Precision. Not sure that the MM was available in 75??
So true. So true.Thanks....According to Gibson, it's a '95. 'Course the way they number things, it could easily be 1895 or 2095....

And it looks waaaay more coooool! There was no bass guitar IN The Doors*. That's why I refer to their 'bass player' as Claude Rains-"The Invisible Man" from the movie of the same name.

Oh, yeah. I want one of those. Certain to have zero neck dive. Headstock staying on remains to be seen.
I’ve tracked down my issue to the neck pickup not being grounded properly, but only in series? Weird, maybe.
I’ll tack on a nice ground tonight, change strings, put on the knobs and be ready for some TOANZ clips tomorrow night for you.

/\ This./\I think Merry Clayton’s work on Gimmie Shelter is fabulous. Maybe the best of the lot.

Someone needs to make a Flamingobird bass. A Thunderbird, but with the lower horn extended and curving around toward itself. Available in burgundy mist metallic, Real Flamingo[tm] pink, hot pink, and pinkburst.

It gives me chills to this day.
I hear you. The version from Havana Moon concert in Cuba is likely the next best as far as I'm concerned. Like you, I've listened to many versions. Many, like a lot of Stones live versions of anything, border on sounding like a sub par bar band.("This" referring to "Merry Clayton’s work on Gimmie Shelter".)
Me, too! I spent hours youtube stalking her. I've also listened to a lot of version of GS, and there are some great ones with all sorts of people singing her parts, but I can't recall anyone I liked better than her.
WRT Merry & "Gimme Shelter":
Mostly interview, but a bit of just her vocal track from the original. Yow!
(No TBird content. Do we know if Wyman ever touched one?)
