I did the gardening today - put in the flowers out front now that frost is no longer a risk (it was a cold April; I can usually have plants in mid April).

The shoulder had been excessively sore for a couple of weeks. I now attribute that to some amount of over-use (especially bass playing). After 4-5 days off, thigs were better. I could play up to 3 songs before needing to break (to prevent a recurrence of the excessive soreness). but today, the gardening has left me a bit sore. Better to take it easy.

But, I did take the pickguard off the JC as an experiment. I think it is looking good nekkid!

this is just killing it....surprised the cops haven’t shown up as I got the garage door open...I’ll try and post a clip in a bit...:hyper::hyper:

Well...played through a guitar amp with who knows what settings and Roto flats. Not really representative of what the pickups or tone from that bird is capable of IMO. It looks like he did a nice job with his mods though. I’ve got three Epis with the basic PUPs that sound better to my ears through a little Marshall 12’” Hybrid bass combo. I’m always skeptical of random YouTube posts. That would be a cool bass to play some Skynard tunes on.

Indeed. To me it sounds horrible.

My two Gibsons are the best built and playing basses I own. Hands down. I will buy another Gibson at some point. My USA Foundation is also a fine instrument, not in the same league, but still great. I’m an Epi fanboy, but they’re not Gibsons.
Well said. I fully agree. I hope it didn't sound as if I was dumping on the Gibson's. Certainly not my intention. My "new" '06 Gibson is made right, feels, right and plays right. I absolutely love looking at it and picking it up to play. Some have complained about the QC, but I have no complaints, and I tend to be picky in that respect. As much as I'm a VP fan boy--the Gibson just says quality instrument, without question and I would buy it again. The Epi's are not Gibson's, as you so rightly said. Right now I'm just struggling with the tonal difference from the '64s and VPs, thus the bragging on the ProBuckers PUs. Once I get the string and amp settings figured out on the Gibson, it will sound (to my tastes) as stellar as the instrument is is!

I think the JCs, and in particular that beautiful red would look fantastic nekkid. I can't say that about me these days....

Sorry to hear dude, go easy.

Thanks.

It is taking a bit longer than expected, and because of the house arrest, I have not had a follow up with the surgeon in person; it has been over the phone. As well as slower than expected recovery, there is swelling that shouldn't be there. Nothing that is an immediate concern, but needs explaining.

I'm still happy to have had the surgery. In the long term, I will have fewer problems and pain.

All is well that ends well. Shame it has to suck in the mean time.
