Thunderbird Club

Our group's last gig was a St. Patrick's day dinner/dance on 3/14. We have our first gig back on 6/13. I'm asking for assistance from the club in reminding me what those steel cable-like things that are on my.....uh, THUNDERBIRD are for. Wait. They make noise!?...how?....through an amplifier?? Wuzzat?:help:

You'll be ok brother.

I took the new Epiphone VP to band practice yesterday, and it sounded fantastic! It was also surprisingly comfortable for a four hour practice (I did use my Stingray 5 for a few songs, but it was mainly the Thunderbird).
Congrats! No surprise there! I have yet to hear somebody say they don't sound good.

I put some GHS Percision flats on the Gibson Thunderbird last night. Sounds like I'm going in the opposite direction I know, but it actually seem to thicken the sound up and make it more full and thick, at least at home. May turn to mud when I use it next weekend, so the experiment continues.

I did email my sales rep at Sweetwater to see if they happen to have any ProBuckers from a damaged instrument. Told him my situation and just wondered if they happen to have anything like that from time to time. He said is an instrument is badly damaged it normally it does get sent back, but he will look around and also check with the ebay dept as they sometimes sell all the parts, and have them keep an eye out for a set as well. He said they were still working for Home so he doesn't really have access to the physical building.

What kind of a person would steal 760 Probuckers out of a perfectly good instrument and put them in another project.. :)

I use the GHS Precision flats and like them a lot. They are on the 'stiff' side but I prefer the tautness for articulation. Some basses (necks) can be stressed by the extra tension but I've not had any issues with them having ill effect on any neck I have them on.

Does anyone know if these things(from DHGate-$270*)are any good, even as a starter adding gooder pups? I'm not certain I'll be around long enuff for Epi to build their version.(sigh) Prolly a POS, but "ya never know".

* if you google "Gibson non-reverse Thunderbird for sale", their ad comes up.
ETA:"for sale"

It looks interesting, but the pic's size is actually a 'thumbnail' ...

What's the problem with the 2013 reissues? Price?
