Thunderbird Club

View attachment 3860510 Does anyone know if these things(from DHGate-$270*)are any good, even as a starter adding gooder pups? I'm not certain I'll be around long enuff for Epi to build their version.(sigh) Prolly a POS, but "ya never know".

* if you google "Gibson non-reverse Thunderbird", their ad comes up.

At that price, roll the dice! Add Chinabuckers and rings, boom! :woot:

Yeah, I couldn't copy the larger pic and when I try to post the link it sends me to the 'home page', which has all kinds of non-bass related [stuff].

I tried to find it (just to see it) and did what you recommended but it didn't appear. Wouldn't really want anything from a site called "cheap on-line products" anyway.

This dirty Bird came early! A little teaser shot before it gets a good cleaning hopefully in time for TBird Thursday.

Ordered this used VP from GC, didn't get any shipping info until a week after the order confirmation. Tracking info last week said delivery date was June 10th. Checked again yesterday afternoon and it said Delivered! Good thing I had it shipped to work, no one was home yesterday.

Took it home and did a quick quality check: zero relief, lowest action I have ever seen (lots of fret buzz, will deal with that after a string change/setup), just a slight buckle rash on the back (couple of minor scratches) otherwise no marks, dents or other scratches, all electronics work, some oxidation on the bridge/tuners, strings are .045 .065 .085 & .108? Probably .110 but caliper keeps reading .108.

Had a little play time with it and it sounds way different than my Epiphone TB IV, in a good way, which is what I was hoping for.
Will do a little comparison between my 2 TBs after this is cleaned and setup.

ETA: sold by DHgate, apparently made by Jugg__guitar.(?) They also list a SS reverse TBird but the body is alder. No mahogany, no sale.

Congrats BC!

Thanks for the birthday love, friends!

Well I searched hi and low for a mash-up of Birthday & Yer Blues (Beatles) that was on YouTube to post for your b-day - but it must have been taken off. It was really an excellent blend of the two classic Beatles songs off the White Album, you'll have to imagine it. In it's place here's a great live performance of Yer Blues by "Dirty Mac" made up of a few musicians you may recognize. Happy B-day!

So love this!!!

Our group's last gig was a St. Patrick's day dinner/dance on 3/14. We have our first gig back on 6/13. I'm asking for assistance from the club in reminding me what those steel cable-like things that are on my.....uh, THUNDERBIRD are for. Wait. They make noise!?...how?....through an amplifier?? Wuzzat?:help:

Take a deep breath. Hold it a few seconds. Now let it out. Breathe. repeat. Pick up steel cable holder. Close eyes. Think of favorite song. Play it in your head. Your hands will know what to do.

Wake up on floor. What happened? You forgot to breathe without directions to do so. Don't do that. Breathe. repeat.

I can't do a google search for Thunderbirds without DHGate showing up. Always makes me thionk of (Dsomething) Heaven's Gate, which makes me steer clear.
