The Gibson equivalent was Heather Mist Poly, which was available on Thunderbirds (I believe there's an example in Geddy's book). It originally appeared on '62 Cadillacs as Heather, WA2990, and was lighter than Burgundy Mist Metallic. You can see the Gibson custom colors and trace them to their car paint codes here: https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?model=Gibson Firebird&rows=50

Someone with middle aged eyes probably couldn’t see the numbers on the gold ones.Interesting that is is has black knobs - most '64s I've seen including mine have gold knobs.
Lots of cool peoples here! Thanks for all the help everyone and taking time to answer my questions. This seems like a friendly place. I’ll continue the hunt and report back on what I come up with. May pop back in for more questions prior to making a purchase.
Cheers

Dude we are all nerds hereOk. So I’m a Nerd. When Tales from Topographic Oceans came out. I sat with a magnifying glass for hours trying to read the lyrics from the liner notes.

Were I starting out, I would strongly suggest an Epiphone Vintage Pro, regardless of price it's simply a great bass guitar, and will serve as your gateway to spend many thousands of dollars and possibly selling body parts to finance yet more Thunderbirds.
Good catch. I've not seen a '64 with black either. However, my '64 Embassy has those and the original owner said it came that way. Who knows.Interesting that is is has black knobs - most '64s I've seen including mine have gold knobs.
Word!If you can afford it, get a Vintage Pro and a Classic pro. The VP sounds more like an early bird, and the CP more like a later bird. Although they're both waaaay more versatile than some pundits think.
Reminds me of the old joke:nope....waiting on a master cylinder delivery from Blighty..

My favourite songwriters are Jello Biafra and Elvis Costello.
“She’s filing her nails while they’re dragging the lake” evokes an image. It doesn’t need to be profound or mystical!
I really hate those. I tried banjo a while and the thumb pick felt like it had to be so tight to stop circulation or it felt like it would come off. Don't know how Johnny Winter did it.Or just use a Herco thumb pick?
I'm really sorry. I truly am.What are you saying? That all the hours I spent in my youth pondering the meaning of the lyrics, playing albums backwards, and at various speeds, was a waste of time? The lyrics didn’t mean anything? I’m crushed. Just crushed I tell ya.
