Well there you go. It seems only the cool blues are d/c. A bit strange that they have bass strings and then a separate category for coated, but list 3 types of coated under bass strings.

Yea, DR Cool Blues, discontinued. Found em on Reverb. I was hesitant to go blue on blue, but figured what the hay.

Yep my Favs were their Peacock Blues. And they stopped making them too. But they looked cool on my white Bird.

I am not sure which version this is on my Hamer; Peacock Blue or Cool Blue. I have one set of the Red Devils left and then I guess I am out of luck with the color DR's.

Yes, if nothing is clearly wrong. That's about the going rate, but since that's early with the sloted poles, it's generally more collectible to G&L enthusiasts. I think they sound better than the later versions, and they sound great. Make an offer and see what happens.

Pawn shops here have $200 instruments for $350. I would say that's a score.

@PillO I A/B the VP with DR Pure Blues and one with GHS Boomers (with some time on them) at home. I was really surprised how much they sounded so similar. The DRs were a tad brighter, but should be since they have only a few hours on them the Boomers are likely 50-75% used, but sill sound great. Great lows, mids with some punch, nice highs but not raspy or brittle in any way. Odd how the DRs sounded so much like the Boomers. The differences might be the Boomers had a slight more lows or slightly bigger sounding, maybe. Will likely use it Sunday and see how the DRs do in a live setting. The Boomers generally felt better and were a little more smooth on the fingers. As a co-founder of the Princess Fingers Club I thought I'd mention it.

You are very welcome. Hopefully my comments are pretty close to reality and not limited to a weakness in my perception. The PBs did have an interesting lower mid thing going on. Didn't care for them on the 06 Gibson. Uninteresting.

You might be the first or second person who mentioned Boomers lacked lows. Lows, even aggressive lows/low-mids is really what Boomers are all about. They can be a little bright when new until they settle in. Then they are just thick, at least in my applications.
