Thunderbird Club

That's great to hear. The quality of my 2013 is incredible. It's been my #1 since I got it back then and it still plays perfectly.

From all I've read from you about your experiments, I wonder if you'd be happiest in the end just changing out the TB+ for some Thunderbuckers or something.
I was a little concerned what what I was reading at times from the interwebs. Mine is just fine and I can be pretty picky about those details. I've sure a not so great one gets out once in a while.

I'd really like to leave it as is to have another flavor of Thunderbird. I've had the vintage Thunderbird sound in my head and ears for decades so it takes a little getting used to. I'm almost certain I would love it even more if I put some PUs that sounded typical/vintage. But I really don't want to do that. It's a great instrument and I want it to work as is if at all possible, and I think I'm there. But putting some vintage sounding PUs would be a dream for sure!

A wonderful piece.

Has anyone ever heard Geddy, or anyone from Rush make an unkind comment?
The closest I've ever heard (and it was a very guarded comment) was in an interview where he was asked if he'd ever walked out of a concert. He said he saw Genesis open for Lou Reed in '72. He said they were great, but then Lou Reed just really couldn't follow them. I think the way he put it was "they just weren't the right opening band for him". That's as close as he's probably ever come to an unkind comment. All three of those guys are/were just total class and niceness.

That's an odd double bill.o_O

Right??? Well, it was early in Genesis' career. I used to work with a guy who's older brother took him to see Genesis in '73, when he was 13. It was his first concert. He said that after it was over, he asked if all concerts were like that. His brother said "Nope. Just Genesis."
I was huge into Genesis. Only saw the Gabriel version once, during the Lamb tour. It was quite a show; theatrics to the extreme, to the point of distraction.

No doubt. I have to be honest, I like a lot of genres of music, but punk just isn't one of them. For me it's right there with rap and likely below disco, but I know many love it, so I'm not meaning to dis what others love in any way. So the few times I've seen Iggy, between the music which isn't for me, and his mannerisms/theatrics I'm in the confirmed it's not for me category. Clearly he's made it work, because I'm talking about him and he's never talked about me!

I like some of Iggy’s stuff, but the one thing I love is “Candy” with Kate Pierson (of the B52s). If you haven’t heard it, you should check it out.

Adversity brings divorce. During the economic crisis of '07/'08 many marriages broke up. With the current state of emergency and many couples spending more time together than they anticipated, it looks like there is going to be another big round of relationship breakdowns.

Sad but true. Our parents both had baggage that just got to be too much to carry.

Thanks for the recommendation Miles. I listened to a couple versions of it. Musically I think song is cool and really like it. I would like to hear somebody else do the song. Didn't really care for the way either vocalist did it. But that's just me. I actually like some of the B-52s stuff and think it's catchy and clever. Dated a girl (redhead) in '81 who liked them. She was into that genre of music so I got to hear things I would have never run across. And, haven't heard 99% since!

I apologize for another incorrect post about tube circuits.
Quote is edited:
...tube gain stage ...followed immediately by a cathode follower, so the gain stage drives a high impedance, which helps keep it linear.
As always, there's a lot more going on, so the above should be ignored.
You can learn more about the behavior of this circuit here (written by someone who really knows this stuff).

I intend to stop posting about tube circuits. Posted *here* because the subject came up, but I'll stop now. :)

I was at a summer jam outdoor concert in about 1978. Most of the groups were straight up rock bands. REO Speedwagon (headliner I believe and before they went pop-rock), Thin Lizzy, Foreigner hadn't been out long, and I can't recall any others, But Steve Miller band was one of the acts in between. He actually got some booze from the crowd. What he did was perfectly fine and sounded great. It was just his musical style was fairly different from everybody else on the bill. Felt bad for him because I thought he did just fine. From what I remember. It was the late '70s....
