Thunderbird Club

Funny thing is, my parents told me to run as fast as I could in the other direction. Of course, being 20 years old I knew more than they did, what kid doesn't. Sometimes ya just gotta learn the hard way.
They should have told you that they liked her, thought she was a perfect match, and obviously would make a great mother. Then you would have run.

Well, bullocks. :rollno:

My fault, really, nobody else I can blame...

Probably got what I deserve, I suppose. :bored:

You'd think I'd learn, eventually. But no! Not me... :banghead:
Sigh...

Well, after I won the bid for the GBP (Ghost 'Bird Project) CV, I was sure, maybe even hopeful, I would get outbid on the other auction

But no!
So, I now have 3 TSOs en route to my location.
Maybe I should just go ahead and drill that extra hole in my head :meh:

Oh, and apparently I fail at speeling "bollocks" too! :roflmao:

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. And still others achieve greatness through ill advised use of revolving credit accounts.

For you to achieve greatness, you really need to buy a few more Thunderbirds. But be sure to keep some powder dry for the long rumored non-reverse VP...

Beware, the enablers here will tell you why you need three MORE TSOs this month.
Done.

My wife's parents talked to her sister's future husband about how ill-tempered their daughter was. I don't know the wording of the conversation, but they even warned him. He's about 7 years older than her and didn't listen. They got married and are "together" generally speaking. He's a saint (or glutton for punishment) for staying with her. I would have flushed her decades ago if she treated me that way. Then talks about his faults (he has some!) and every few years that she ought to divorce him! It's the other way around. Finally my wife told her (older) sister she ought to be thankful for Dave for being a decent guy. My wife's parents didn't give them that same kindness.o_O Fortunately my wife is not her sister in so many ways. But still has a strong streak of moodiness that pops out at times. But we're happy together. Given that I'm nearly perfect it just makes any of her flaws more pronounced. ;)

Bass - Gibson Thunderbird 2008.JPG !!!

Good morning Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. It has been a long week and I am grateful for the weekend to arrive. I am still working on my double thumb and slapping. The techniques seem to ebb and flow, depending on the evening and the amount of tea and Jim Beam involved.
As I have been virtually locked in my office, also known as the spare bedroom. I have been listening to my new Dave's picks. As expected, it is great and I enjoy it more each time I put it on. There are a few spots where Jerry sounds almost hoarse. I don't know how many eons they had been on tour, or how many shows they had done before rolling into Philadelphia, but his voice sounds strained in placed. The playing is outstanding, as one would expect from a group of crazy talented hippies who had jammed together for decades. I can hardly give an unbiased opinion as I have been a fan for years, and got to see them live. I encourage you to check it out if you are interested and pm me if you have any questions.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Take care and stay well.

I ordered a body for my new project yesterday, very similar to this one, not quite as nice flaming, but otherwise the same, 4 lb 6 oz, flamed maple over mahogany. It will be routed for Tbird pups, no pickguard, Gotoh 201 bridge, VVT with side jack. So I guess it will be a ThunderP? I'm looking to go with a 1.65 all maple neck, 7.5 radius, super slim C, Gotoh Res-O-Lites, it should come in at just over 8 lbs.

If your purpose is to be a source of temptation--mission accomplished! :D I would love to have a Thunderbird with a flame top. This is making me want to take a shot at building something myself. Just can't see it in the near future though. Can't wait to see how your project turns out. So I can have more envy, of course! Hurry up! You done yet? What's the hold up, bandits?

Might not be so bad as initially thought. Go ahead and let them sit a while and think about what your options would be and I am sure you'll come up with a excellent plan. Assuming it doesn't include buying any more TSO's! Hang onto them as you might find a different way to create another project. If not, you can always list what you don't need for sale if you want to minimize the financial aspect. Or build something cool that you don't really need and list it for sale! But shipping a bass of these days is expensive.

Clearly it wasn't loud enough as it didn't de-fur the nearby dog who seemed to care less. Of course his dog is probably deaf by now anyway.
Needed to find the gardeners house too. Free 6AM concert boys.

Ah man.... gorgeous !!!

I still use an old DB800h with that cab... how clean is the YBA 100 ? I read the YBA-200 breaks up rather quickly, so I stayed away from it, not because I don't like it when it talks dirty to me (I'll ahem myself on this one), but I need clean also.

I read the YBA-200 breaks up rather quickly

Info:
The 200 has the more usual pentode output, while the 100 and 300 are "Ultralinear" and should be much cleaner up to a higher power out. Lows should be much clearer too; even the 100 should have clearer lows than the 200.

Also, every tube gain stage in the 100 and 300 is followed immediately by a cathode follower, so the gain stages drive a high impedance, which helps keep them linear.

I have a 300 (same preamp as 100), and it is very clean compared to any tube amps I've heard.

This was my first Ultralinear amp. I was afraid it might be too clean or sound funny. But no, I like the tight lows of the power section very much.

My Embassy Pro - which is a member of the THUNDERBIRD family - likes it too.

Info:
As I expected (but this is not what you'll usually read in reviews of EL34 vs 6L6GC), EL34 (JJ EL34II because their EL34L was out of stock) give a slightly tighter low end. Not enough to worry about but worth trying sometime.

Oh, I'm posting this information here for my THUNDERBIRD brother and for the benefit of the THUNDERBIRD Club! I avoid the more relevant threads because I don't want anything I say about a Traynor product to be taken negatively.

The neighborly thing to do would be to to ask the neighbor or the Gardner to not start up their equipment until 8:00. If pajama boy didn't follow that decorum I'd have promptly aimed my sprinklers over his wall as he struck the third chord of his guitar hero attack - instant fireworks!

Absolutely.

Also, the caption doesn't say who got tired of who's racket in the first place. For all we know, the neighbor/gardener might be retaliating. We'll let'em sort it out, hopefully in respect, peace and quiet.

But it's funny to see how confinment can get to people .

Stays clean with gain up to about halfway. Then gradually and predictably adds some hair. Very warm distortion, no loss of bottom end. Bass and treble are passive, so I started with those all the way up. Backed off the treble a bit to reign in the top end of distortion. Backed off the bass a bit to reduce boominess. Added a little low mids for some growl.
