Thunderbird Club

Yeah, that would be my 2nd choice(1st being the hoped for RI, VP, NR, TBII/IV, etc.), but a $250. difference is a substantial draw. And I tend to favor a mellower, less "TBird-y" tone. Still in the "thinkin' 'bout it" phase.
My VP, currently with good ‘ol Slinky rounds, is full on Tbirdy. And that’s how I usually like it. But it dials back quite nicely. And your Rumbles do have eq. Pretty sure you can find your tone with a VP.
But you really need to play one before you make up your mind. The CPs are great too. You can’t go wrong with either.

I got lucky with my VP. I gave it a good cleaning, set it up and put new knobs on it. It looks brand new. Total with a barely used case, tax and shipping was $655.38. The cases alone are $130.

Just reminds me of the the study I believe the NYTs or a DC paper in the 90s did in asking Native Americans (from the area I believe) if they were offended by the Washington Redskins. As I recall the majority didn't take it that way. It seems it wasn't as big of a deal until non-Native Americans complained that they should be offended. Shoot, the guy the designed the logo was..... You guessed it. Same with Land-O-Lakes label that was recently changed. I'm just personally dubious (offended!) of people who are offended on behalf of others, often first. I just don't get offended when offense was not intended. There are bigger and real problems to worry about. Redd Foxx and Richard Prior were hilarious when making fun of white people like me, and I loved it. But make fun of my Thunderbird.... and it's on!

The perfect pair. Vintage and modern.

That's wonderful. The second part, obviously.

Not that kids would listen, but parents ought to sit down at some point and help kids understand what to look for in a spouse and what to run from, and why. I realize it's not that easy.
Funny thing is, my parents told me to run as fast as I could in the other direction. Of course, being 20 years old I knew more than they did, what kid doesn't. Sometimes ya just gotta learn the hard way.

Well, I missed a good deal on a VP(ebony). And I don't hafta do anything, but I seem to have developed a bit of GAS for a less rare 'Bird that I don't hafta be afraid of taking out in public. And the CP I'm looking at appears to be in excellent shape. My guess is I could resell it pretty much at no loss if I don't like it.
Go for it, it's calling your name! I think the CP will do exactly what you're wanting it to do, so if the price is right, jump.

I ordered a body for my new project yesterday, very similar to this one, not quite as nice flaming, but otherwise the same, 4 lb 6 oz, flamed maple over mahogany. It will be routed for Tbird pups, no pickguard, Gotoh 201 bridge, VVT with side jack. So I guess it will be a ThunderP? I'm looking to go with a 1.65 all maple neck, 7.5 radius, super slim C, Gotoh Res-O-Lites, it should come in at just over 8 lbs.

Well, bullocks. :rollno:

My fault, really, nobody else I can blame...

Probably got what I deserve, I suppose. :bored:

You'd think I'd learn, eventually. But no! Not me... :banghead:

Snapped the headstock off in a crowd and killed three people, maimed eight?

Listened to Kenny G?

Posted your routing and account number on Facebook? (runs off to check)

Sigh...

Well, after I won the bid for the GBP (Ghost 'Bird Project) CV, I was sure, maybe even hopeful, I would get outbid on the other auction

But no!
So, I now have 3 TSOs en route to my location.
Maybe I should just go ahead and drill that extra hole in my head :meh:

Oh, and apparently I fail at speeling "bollocks" too! :roflmao:

I regocnize both the auction problem and the typo predilection. Wait until everything gets there, and decide what to sell, donate, gift, or whatever. Beware, the enablers here will tell you why you need three MORE TSOs this month.

Kara, don't beat yourself up, look at the bright side - you excel in acquisitions and creative spelling!:D
Besides, with all the quarantine COVID stuff going on you'll have plenty of fun projects to work on while you're locked in the house.
Any further word on the Quattro bass? It has to be getting closer to your house by now.

hmmmm.....might you consider parting with that beauty?...

Perfect! Check out post 159403...;)

Dunno. I've kinda gotten into the project aspect of it. It should be the first to arrive though, as it arrived at the hub in Sacramento today - but is not scheduled to be delivered until Wednesday. Then I can do a full eval, talk to the paint guy, etc. And see how I feel about the narrower neck.
I'll keep it in mind, though, 'cause I can only fit so much in 600 sq ft...:)

No new updates yet.
But not getting too antsy (yet).
It took 4 days for the GBP to get to Sac from MA, but carrier is claiming 5 days for a 15 minute cross-town trip :rollno:
With the delivery issues in this area atm, not surprised; customs, etc., is probably worse...
