Thunderbird Club

So there you have it. Insinuating she is anything but perfect and always right will be your downfall. I’m guessing you’ve never been married?

Try this line:
"Would you like me to just agree with you or would you like me to explain why you are wrong?"

:roflmao: And if you use that line, please have someone take video and post it here.

That's a great point.

@Jakeman Did you girlfriend hear a complaint from a Native American about it?
Just reminds me of the the study I believe the NYTs or a DC paper in the 90s did in asking Native Americans (from the area I believe) if they were offended by the Washington Redskins. As I recall the majority didn't take it that way. It seems it wasn't as big of a deal until non-Native Americans complained that they should be offended. Shoot, the guy the designed the logo was..... You guessed it. Same with Land-O-Lakes label that was recently changed. I'm just personally dubious (offended!) of people who are offended on behalf of others, often first. I just don't get offended when offense was not intended. There are bigger and real problems to worry about. Redd Foxx and Richard Prior were hilarious when making fun of white people like me, and I loved it. But make fun of my Thunderbird.... and it's on!

Yeah, that would be my 2nd choice(1st being the hoped for RI, VP, NR, TBII/IV, etc.), but a $250. difference is a substantial draw. And I tend to favor a mellower, less "TBird-y" tone. Still in the "thinkin' 'bout it" phase.
I understand. I don't have either VP dong the angry piano in any way. Big and thick. You can get mellow out of a VP easy enough with the right strings and amp settings. The VP just has something the TB+ don't. A presence you might say. But only you can make that call which is right for you.

I liked your line so much, sometime back I copied it. Hope to use it one day with the right (cocky) person.

Ooooooh! I bet it sounds even better than it looks!
I played around with it for about an hour before dinner. Then my brother came over and we made some noise for a couple of hours.

Plugged straight into the amp it is great.

So far:
Thunderbird in D standard - THUNDER!
Jack Casady in E Standard - Holy Growl!
Gibson Midtown in E Standard - Too much bass? No! Grindy and bottom end for days.

I'll spend a few hours getting things all dialed in Saturday and Sunday.

Next I'll have to take it to my brother's place to try it through my Boogie 410.

Well, I missed a good deal on a VP(ebony). And I don't hafta do anything, but I seem to have developed a bit of GAS for a less rare 'Bird that I don't hafta be afraid of taking out in public. And the CP I'm looking at appears to be in excellent shape. My guess is I could resell it pretty much at no loss if I don't like it.

Yeah, it doesn't have to used with a spouse/significant other. I have used it on consultants I had working for me. It was a very pointed way of telling them that the work product was terrible because they didn't listen to instructions and let them know that the working relationship is over and there is no repairing it.

Sounds like a good thinking on the CP. I'm just a sucker for the VPs. But I am liking what I'm getting out of the modern Gibson now with those TB+ PUs. Not sure which variety the CP has vs what I have, but it shouldn't be very different sounding. I don't think you could co wrong with the CP, so long as you know it will sound pretty different--which I know you understand. I was considering a CP when I ran across a good deal on the 06 Gibson. No regrets in buying it either.

Sounds right
