Thunderbird Club

That’s Matlock in that vid; they (really McLaren) kicked him out before they hit it big because he didn’t fit the image. He’s a real bassist.
Matlock played bass for the Sex Pistols!? I would never have guessed.

I knew he played some guitar. Who knew. Might give them a listen. But if he is shirtless or in spandex.... I feel ill. I guess it wouldn't be any worse than seeing way too much of Iggy Pop. But that causes the same reaction.

My wife's parents talked to her sister's future husband about how ill-tempered their daughter was. I don't know the wording of the conversation, but they even warned him. He's about 7 years older than her and didn't listen. They got married and are "together" generally speaking. He's a saint (or glutton for punishment) for staying with her. I would have flushed her decades ago if she treated me that way. Then talks about his faults (he has some!) and every few years that she ought to divorce him! It's the other way around. Finally my wife told her (older) sister she ought to be thankful for Dave for being a decent guy. My wife's parents didn't give them that same kindness.o_O Fortunately my wife is not her sister in so many ways. But still has a strong streak of moodiness that pops out at times. But we're happy together. Given that I'm nearly perfect it just makes any of her flaws more pronounced. ;)
When Sharon and I got engaged, my mom cut a visit short with her sister and drove several hours to Atlanta to try to talk Sharon out of it. “You don’t have any idea what you’re getting into with him.”
Thanks, Mom.
Thankfully, Sharon didn’t listen. Almost 42 7/12 years in and we’re still happily married.

The Pistols had a far better drummer than they should have had. Sid made up for it.

Indeed.
What a good rythm section will do to a band .

Was that because your mom didn't like you or she didn't like your now wife?

I'm still clinging to the hope of one day being in a band that'll play God Save the Queen...

Lots will say that this is not punk anymore, but it still has a %$!@(*)& kick !

I’ve started working on recording covers of stuff that I would love to play in a dadcore band. Just waiting for a drummer to get back to me with tracks for Liar.:D

Mom was a bit high strung at the time, had just had a bit of a shock with a nephew wrt marriage, and wasn’t convinced I had my life even vaguely together. She was a bit of a drama queen. In her favor, she had not yet met Sharon and had no warning things had gotten that serious. Heck, I didn’t know they had until the question popped out of my mouth. Seriously.

Yeah, having your life together before getting married was important then. As was marriage. Times have changed.

I’ve been building up a similar list. Just need a singer, a guitarist, a keyboard player (for half of it) and a drummer. Oh well, it helps keep the brain young.

Dadcore? Interesting. I might look into doing a Yachtcore band. We could be the premier Yachtcore band in NYC. No one would have to know we're the only.

I’m pretty sure I could get together a group of middle aged guys to play Sex Pistols, Clash, Ramones, Stooges etc. The problem would be rehearsing safely and finding venues to play in.

I am an ok punk/rhythm guitarist, so I’d be happy to contribute guitar tracks if you’re recording.
Not yet. Did some research on iRig types of interfaces some months back, couldn’t really decide what to get. But everything was out of stock anyway with the Pandemic and all. I’m pretty much IOS/iPad/GarageBand confined unless I get a new computer which I’m not really up to messing with right now. I figure start small with the simple stuff and learn from there. It’ll be a while though.
