It dawned on me that I already had a set of BEAD nut files. I pulled out the low four round-wound strings that came on my Pro v and went to work. Would have been easier with RS66s, but use what you got!
After the slots were done, I pulled out the Cobalt flats I bought just for this and...
The CFs are fatter. (smh)
Despite the sworn testimony of members of the Princess Fingers club, these CFs are about abrasive as a Teflon[tm]-coated glass rod.
Tomorrow I’ll try the old rounds I used as files, just to test things out. And I guess order nut files.

I have been doing some research on the matter.

I think in my case it might actually be a cobalt allergy. Only way to be certain is with testing and that is not useful right now. However, in the event I need an artificial joint, pacemaker, or stent, it will be worth testing.

eep. That would explain it. I, myself, have to stay away from strings containing ragweed.

I have as well but it's because I went BEAD on my Classic Pro and didn't take the time to modify the nut.

A Kubicki Ex-Factor easily adapts to BEAD as I did on my Factorbird fretless as there is no 'slot' for the capo'd string. (essentially a zero fret)

I can't get past the looks of it.

A bright yellow or lime green one is so outrageously ugly that I kinda want one. Not for the price they go for though.

I have played the Bongo $$ and really liked the extensive options it had soundwise. Butt I just can't get past the toilet seat image it evokes. If I could find a cheap fixer upper I would be tempted to buy it and do a refin to ceramic white and then apply a light blue American Standard decal on it. It would be a cool bass to rock as a conversation piece.

I like the redundancy. We had a Generac at the house we just left. It was useless 98% of the time. The other 2% it was worth it weight in gold Thunderbirds. The third level of protection is a good last resort. Sure you don't want to move back to Kentucky? We can help with that earthquake problem. At least at a much greater risk than Cal. Just stay away from Western Ky to further minimize exposure.

You keep tempting me, I'm getting weaker as resisting. The next few months should be very decisive.
I'll know by spring if Californey's the place be.
Might pack up the truck and move from Beverly.

Thank you! One dog is a 67 lb Lab, but we only have two motion detectors, one upstairs in the living room and the other in the main area in the basement. We have hardwired smoke detectors on all levels (carbon monoxide I can't say) and glass breaks hardwired in all room ceilings. It seems like a decent system in place for our needs, which is why I would kind of prefer to use it as opposed to scrapping it and starting over.

Sounds like a great system. You just need to confirm if local neighbors are happy with the contractor ADT uses in your neighborhood. Might also be worth a call to the local police to see if they have any insight they want to share on which service providers seem to have the most or least false trips. Adding a ring audio/video system that you can access and view from your cell phone might be a very worthwhile addition if you have an elderly parent in the house with mobility or health issues. Also nice to have the ring if you have front porch pirates in your area.

Dylan, I really like it a lot - It does has a cool '60s early '70s vibe, maybe even a bit like some Jethro Tull from that time. Oh yeah, you're giving the "wants" for an EB3 too.

Again good suggestions. I serve on the Board of Directors for a senior living apartment complex with a guy that lives several houses down that with may be able to provide some information. I believe he has the same service. He's a retired business owner and pharmacist so you never know whether to take him seriously or not. He may suggest as a safety feature some type of fruit on the head!

Currently we don't have a doorbell. The house has a doorbell and intercom system throughout, but it does not work, and I would like to get fixed. (That would be handy for my mother downstairs. Better than yelling up the steps or having to use the phone. If she uses it too much it might mysteriously get broke again.) There is a camera on the porch but I'm not sure what activates it. I assume movement of some kind. I will have to talk to a local ADT person to find out what the system is capable of--and if there would be a free upgrade, no doubt with some hidden extra expenses somewhere and a higher monthly charge. Your experience and perspective has been really helpful--in protecting Thunderbirds.

FWIW I’ve been using a cheap set of needle files for decades.

I was disappointed with Ring doorbell. Just out of the warranty period the thing developed a short on the output to the doorbell. I had installed a camera system in the meantime so I replaced the Ring with a button.
