This is kinda poorly executed. Get the specs right it's not 35" scale, it just seems like it due to the neck being out further from the body. Second, i feel like they didn't give the bird a wide variation of tones i's capable of achieving, especially the active pro :(. & no Goth or Blackbird or even the last of the limited edition white or tv silver. I wish someone could shootout all variations of birds (gibson & epiphone) to see the differences in tone & what each wood brings to the sound.

I hear you, but consider this:

It would not only be quite time consuming, but also require access to virtually one of each model and not forgetting, them all having the same brand new strings, which would be quite a financial setback (at least in my case, if I were to do it)...

Also the same grooves/licks would have to be performed ar least 12 times on ALL the basses with the same settings (neck solo, bridge solo, both pickups on, and with the tone full on and rolled off in all instances), played both with a pick and with the fingers - Just to make everybody happy...

I got pretty much a copy of all the Epi's and a couple of Gibson's, but still lack the Blackbirds (both Epiphone and Gibson), Epi Elitists, Orville's and the abominable Gibson 2015...

If I were to restring 15 birds with the exact identical new strings, it would cost me a fortune, and take a lot of time, which I don't have...

Well we are many in this club, those who have a collection could possibly shootout 4 each. Seeing what the difference could be between basses & tone variations.

I guess it was an expensive lesson then, to find out the original pickups were exactly what you were looking for... ;)

I didn't realise there were builders in Australia that did that kind of thing. I'll definitely have to look into it, a fearful 15/15 has interested me for a while.

Ive led this thread in a bit of a tangent though, so back to Thunderbirds. Does anyone else find that with the neck heel strap location, thicker straps impede upper fret access?

Not really. But I don't use those frets much, anyway.

It's not really the bass for it, funny because the higher notes really do sing in a very musical way. Can be heard on Kings of Leon records (highly recommend, great thunderbird tone). I saw them live and it was the best live bass tone I have ever heard second to JMJ at an '09 NIN show (also mighty tbird tones)

Well we never have to speak about each different one. If we did, then it would be a crazy long video about features & build design. But for a shootout it should be something like this (Fair warning for the faint of heart, the video linked here is filled with enemy content. Proceed at your own risk :P
