Thunderbird Club

A bit off topic but bear with me okay?

A few weeks ago, my high school sweetheart who recently came back into my life saw my guitars and went "That blue one, I'd love to take a picture of it against the bright blue sky seeing as how much a contrast it is."

Turns out she's just as much into photography as I am in guitars. We had a bit of back and forth about whether or not you could take a really beautiful picture using the cheap auto zoom, auto focus digital cameras that are so ubiquitous these days.

So to prove to her that you CAN, I took THIS picture.

And she relented, proving once again that it's not the tool but the one who works that tool.

Nice pic !
I remember your earlier post, glad to see things going well, very heart-warming story.

Looks good to me. Some truth in that. Duane, Jimi, Eric could play Hondos and they would sound impressive. I could play a '58 Les Paul and it would...... You get the point.

Glad things are still on between you two.

That strat is gorgeous. Love that color.

Do you guys know of anyone converting a bolt-on Epiphone T-bird to a 5-string?

I've been thinking, with the proper bridge, the only other things that need changing would be the string nut, and a hole drilled for a 5th tuner (on the treble side, like the Pro 5). The neck width at the nut is about 1 3/4 inches, essentially identical to my Ibanez SR and SbMM Stingray 5-strings.

Looks like parts (using Schaller 3D-5 bridge, DaVinci tuners, and a new nut) should run between $300 & $350-ish.

Just an idea that's been rolling around in my head for a bit, and was curious if it's been tried before....

Gotta be careful using liquid lubricants in truss rod cavities. The oil can soak into the wood and make the wood area the washer seats against really punky and soft. It might be better to use dry spray like teflon or graphite on the threads if the nut needs a bit of help to turn. If you have to use liquid lube it's probably best to do so very sparingly and with a lot of effort to keep it on the truss threads only if possible.
Ahem, ahem, ahem...

Hey Veronica, thanks for the nice comment! I think that I developed it unconsciously, it is just comfortable to me playing that way.
My (German) bass teacher once told me that it's interesting he finds that New Yorkers seem to lead with their middle finger, where most others lead with their index. Draw your own conclusions from that.

Went down a Tanya Donnelly rabbit hole last night. Watched this with Gail Greenwood on her Thunderbird!

Such a great band, and you can hear the bass SO WELL here. Gail is a blast to watch; I love kinetic musicians, especially bass & drums.
Anyone else hearing Echo & the Bunnymen meets 10000 Maniacs?

The Brite flats seemed like a possibly good idea for the Epi EB-0 I bought a few months ago, the thought being to give a little definition to the Mudbucker. It wasn't the most expensive experiment and now I know. Nope.
Update: I put some well-used EBCF's on the EB-0(came offa the 67 NR when I went to 50-105's on it). They were just too far gone so I had a set of DTF's I didn't like on my Ibanez to put on the EB-0. They're fine.

Some of us tend to use our middle finger more than others regardless of where we are if that makes sense. ;):roflmao:
Yeah, but that can be problematic at times.;) In truth, I have an old injury to the RH middle digit that makes it an Advil moment if I use it very much(except extended).

YouTube link to a new cover I did with my TB VP Ebony for those that are interested. Not appropriate to show here because of opening video content. Just add https:// to the front and copy the rest below:

Doing some cover songs, played poorly, with my Covid hair before it gets cut. Got my 2nd shot and it wiped me out for a couple of days.

Trying to get back to recording originals again instead of just self medicating. Haven't picked up a guitar in a year or played much drums either. Time to start practicing again!

Sounded good to me. Nothin' like a nice libation b4 kickin'.

Actually I believe @dukeorock recently had his stolen.

I had a Fano JM4 that I adored. Sadly, it was stolen a month ago or so. Tempted to buy another, but I have a fair amount of really nice basses. The Fano had been my main daily driver for the past 18 months or more. Really miss it

Looks like you're having fun and that's all that matters when you're at home and getting back into it!

I see you're in Michigan too... is Spring ever gonna happen?

Not sure where you got Michigan from, couple states over and a little farther North actually. But yeah, no spring yet. Might be another year where we go from furnace to air conditioner within a week.
