Thunderbird Club

My side project is a Skynyrd tribute band and we’re playing out 1st gig this weekend. I’ve been rehearsing with P-basses mostly. But, I think I’ll do the show with my 2010 Gibson Thunderbird. Ya know, it’s a ficken’ Skynyrd band! I can’t imagine playing Simple Man on anything else.
P.S. - I’ll bring my ‘54 P-bass as my backup.
That’s sounds like a lot of fun!

Masariti has one of my favorite car brand logos (the Trident) followed closely by the raging Lamborghini bull. The Bora was actually a pretty good Italian sports car for its day, right there in looks and close in performance with the Pantera and Mangusta. Unfortunately it had a short life and was more or less replaced by the Merak, which had a pretty disappointing Citroen V6. I'm a Porsche guy, but if given the opportunity to have a mint Bora vs a mint 930 of the same year, I'd take the trident.

not quite, the Merak was to the Bora what the Ferrari 308 was to the BB512 (later Testarossa) or the Urraco (Lambo) was to the Countach, their little baby brothers.... not really a fair comparison....incidentally, that Maserati V6 ended up in other cars such as the Citroen SM with great results....
Merak....

My kind of Porsche (two syllables please), as an aside I recently watched the F1 movie "Rush" and really enjoyed it, the soundtrack even had famous Gibson bass player Jimmy Lea of Slade on it, playing Mama we're all Crazee now"

Exactly. The big brother was discontinued in '78 IIRC and little bro Merak, which was based on the Bora but had a completely underwhelming 175ish hp engine continued on into the early 1980's. Hence my comment "more or less replaced by the Merak". Two completely different cars, one quite fun on the track and the other not so much.
As for Citroen engines, never been a fan of those. At the time and even currently there are many better options out there. JMHO YMMV.

I'm always up for some Porsche (say Por-sha) love. The 917 was an absolute Beast. Some great drivers stories out there in the racing world.

Actually I believe @dukeorock recently had his stolen.
Man, that just sucks..... [Insert adjective for lack of character here].

Had my favorite Pbass that was my main player for years stolen years ago--from a church that was broken into. Another guy was using it. The good thing is that it got me interested in playing again. So it was worth it in the end.

A bit off topic but bear with me okay?

A few weeks ago, my high school sweetheart who recently came back into my life saw my guitars and went "That blue one, I'd love to take a picture of it against the bright blue sky seeing as how much a contrast it is."

Turns out she's just as much into photography as I am in guitars. We had a bit of back and forth about whether or not you could take a really beautiful picture using the cheap auto zoom, auto focus digital cameras that are so ubiquitous these days.

So to prove to her that you CAN, I took THIS picture.

And she relented, proving once again that it's not the tool but the one who works that tool.
