But...having said that, they are still a great buy for the money. Wanted to correct what no doubt sounded like nothing but disparaging comments on the Embassy. But between the two...Thunderbird.

The Tbird on the otherhand is drop dead gorgeous. I’ll say that I kinda prefer the look of NR’s, though I don’t think I’ll ever be able to justify the cost. Any input to help sway my decision is greatly appreciated.

If you can’t get both, which is highly recommended, get the Thunderbird. You won’t be disappointed. And FWIW, the Tbird is more comfortable to play, for me anyway. YMMV.

I transported my Factorbird to rehearsals via motorcycle in a custom gig-bag/backpack I made for it. Fortunately it's 'headless'. :)

So I have an actual sorta technical question: what pickup settings do people tend to use? Obviously this is going to depend on your amp, the style of music you play, and your personal tastes, but I'm kind of curious.

I've been mostly using bridge at 10 and neck at about 9, which does give something of a midrangy honk, but the other day I tried going neck 10 and bridge 0, and I'm really liking it - it's closer to a P-bass tone but with some piano-ish quality.

Yes, many here wind off the bridge pickup, some even remove them and rewire - it's a little know fact outside of this group that the best P bass is actually a single pick up Thunderbird. :D

If the voice of God can help out the Habs tonite, I'd be grateful. But I'm afraid that ship has sailed. Still paying the price for bad player pics'n'trades and worse player development. Best is still ahead... at least by a 3 years.

I'm with you.
Been thinking about switching to separate 2x10 and 1x15 cabs, still having difficulty moving that 1510 up a few stairs. I used to be weary of light cabs because of boominess, but I learned how to work around that, when it happens (which is not always related to light cabs anyway).

Lost (voluntarily) 33 pounds since posting a pic of meeself in January. Still aiming to lose 10 more, as to bring it to 210 lbs over my 5'11' frame. I don't deserve to have an NFL fullback shape.

Sound of metal on Crave... quite a moving flick.
No Bird in site, tho, but then, there's no bassplayer in that reverse White Stripes band.
