Probably best to just break out the screwdriver!

Actually I might be shopping for one to go on my VP. And some heavier strings. Jason Lane Band tunes to Eb and does Black Velvet in "D" which will really be C#. Might be fun to do that shuffle down low, but I'm going to need some heavy strings.

I remember the discussion some couple thousand pages back that too heavy a string on the bass side on the VP may cause intonation issues as the saddle runs out of travel. Something to consider anyway.

Ha! Yeah, at times I don't look like I enjoy playing either--and it has been mentioned to me. Kind of a serious, or constipated look I suppose.

I just say I'm the one holding the band together and it's not easy.

Good evening Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. A couple of birthdays to celebrate. I don't know if he played a Bird, but Ronnie played some great bass parts over the years, and Charlie swings with the best of 'em. I hope they come back to the Northwest.

Could be worse. To my ear, Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) sounds like he is trying to work through some constipation when he sings. And Neil Young sings like a parrot with some personal issues.

Couldn't locate a pic of him playing a Thunderbird during his bass-playing days, but Ronnie is known to play Firebirds, so I'd say it's in the family. I like him, he was perfect for the Stones. Had he be commitment-free at the time they replacing Jones, he woulda been in. But then, Taylor brought some good stuff to them at that time.

:roflmao: Yes 100.0023%. Mustaine wasn't the only one who came to mind in the genre. It's just not my thing with someone (more modern metal, or whatever it's called these days) sings and sounds like they're giving birth to a 9# hemorrhoid. I know many like it, and I admit it's just never been for me. Roaring doesn't speak to me unless it's big cat on the loose. That's when I sing very, very clearly, "Oh won't you give me three steps, gimme three steps kitty....."

What I like about Sirius/XM is the ability to change 'channels' to another fave with one touch. Thus being able to 86 any song/artist easily. That said, I don't mind an occasional Megadeth or Young song-just not an album's worth.

Never been a fan of Neil but at least he's got his own style of singing and playing. To me, he's one of those rare cats that I don't mind listening to (in small doses) but I can't stand to watch him perform or hear him rant about various topics (truth be told, I don't like any performer ranting about topics, shut up and sing). I do enjoy watching Jimmy Fallon impersonate Young, he nails his sound and style.

Awesome bassist! Loved his work with Jeff Beck...one of the few players that don't sound like a guitarist when playing bass imho
