The Peavey is still very much alive. The gain can be cranked to where it just breaks up when you dig in on a run.
Sounds good through my Ampeg 1x15

I've got the head from a Combo 300 I'm waiting to get back from loan. I mixed the enclosure and keep the part the head was in, kept the pointy Peavey badge. It's funky looking but it's a good head. And it's got a crossover, you can send to another amp and bi-amp...

For one thing they are 4 banger PU's trying to cover a 5, apparently an old "Gibby Trick" :roflmao: (they might not sound bad on 4 banger like they were intended!!) Going into this I knew I would have to change some things but the neck through maple and walnut lams are worth the price of admission!!

Oh and BTW I think they used some kind of metal nut if I remember correctly

Yeah to me the biggest concern/factor in all of this was the PU size, IF I have the theory right, PU's are just big ole magnets that covert string vibration/nuances into electrical energy, therefore the mag field is critical to cover the dynamics of all this, the difference width wise between the OEM and replacement PU's were significant thus compromising said fundamentals. It will take some work to route out the cavities, if you're not handy cranking a "Bridgeport" than may I suggest you find the best Luthier in the area and have it done right!! If you you look closely, you'll get disey:confused: following the lines/edges on these cavities (which REALLY ticks me off but refuse to put "windows" on :rollno:)
Again the effort was worth it and she actually claps some THUNDER now:thumbsup:
Also, when you decide to do this, replace the rest of the electronics as well!! When I first did mine mine, I kept the original guts and just added a passive switch and the results were Meh :meh:
But after I tore those guys out and installed the standard passive Gibby harness (you can order the whole harness, pots etc. Pre wired from Gibby")
That made the difference & everything just POPPED after that:hyper:
May I suggest you follow the "KISS" method on this, I mean you can go ahead and get crazy with a pre and all BUT if you're looking for THE sound then just stick the ole "Boyrd Basics" Neck through body, big ole humbuckers & passive electronics:cool:

Hello everyone.
I am getting my Thunderbird Vintage Pro in one week, I posted about it 1 mouth ago and I cannot wait to get my hands on that big monster, but recently I have a big problem with supports for the bass, where I live I am not allowed to make any holes in the walls so I will not be hanging it on the wall, but I dont know if a regular stand will hold it well since the base it not a regular Fender type, any idea of supports that hold it in a safe way, plus I was wondering if one of those for 5 (or any other number of basses) work fine.

They make stands that hang the bass by the neck in the same way wall hangers do.

I remember going to guitar shops in the early 2000's and the prices on older Acoustic and Peavey bass amps were dirt cheap. You can still find some of it for reasonable prices these days but the prices do seem to be climbing for the pieces that are in good condition.

A local guy is on the hunt for some Acoustic cabs. I am not familiar with any of these models tho.

Wanted: vintage Acoustic control Corp bass cabs - $1 (Chandler)

make / manufacturer: Acoustic Control Corp
model name / number: 106, 402, 406

Looking for 106, 402, or 406 Acoustic Control Corp bass cabs. If they have speakers that's ok but not necessary. Looking for good condition not all beat up. Thanks

This is all I use, I would go with the "AGS" type and at least get a double which will be essentially the same as hanging them on the wall in regards to the all important gravity factor:

I know the 106 cab is a 2x15 ported plywood box with square magnet CTS speakers. I sold mine to a hipster kid.
