Thunderbird Club

Each to their own, I guess - I don't particularly like the bridges on my Pro-IV and Pro-V... ;)

My issue regard the quality and the functionality.

Die cast is horrible and no strength, hence the torsion problem.

Functionality is flawed as bridge design keeps you from lowering the bridge to my liking IF bass side is correct height, treble side is limited.

Give me the adjustability of the PRO-V, the quality is a bonus.

Been a proud 'bird owner since yesterday. Side-by-side with a Cort B4 this bass looks like (and feels like) heavy artillery compared to a rifle :D
Bought it new in a store as "b-stock" for $480

Brand new old stock for $480 USD? IMO you got a pretty darn good price on it, what year is it? Gave more than that for mine and it was used (identical to yours, early edition 2008 model but it did come with a case though). Nice find! Good looking Cort too, I keep finding myself looking at A5's thinking I ought to get one.

On a side note - I thought my B string was a bit floppy and weak compared to the E and A. I know that some of the early edition Pro V's (mine being an early 2008 model) had issues with the pickups not being properly wired or properly adjusted or something like that for a 5 string, though the seller stated that had been fixed on mine previous to them selling it. Took it to my luthier recently for a good setup and pointed out the issue to him. Went up from a 125 to a 130 B which really helped with the floppiness, he somehow added some additional neo-dyno-something-or-other magnets on the B side of the pickup. The B string is now even in output to the others, made a huge difference in the sound from the B. FWIW.

There is a beautiful Spector Tbird style on page 2682 of the Spector Owners Club thread. Regardless of the gold hardware it is a beauty (I have never been a fan of gold hardware on 98% of basses for some reason)!!
The last time I saw a Les Paul custom was way back in the late 70s, that was black with gold hardware, it was gorgeous, expensive mind if I remember correctly it was something like £1600 when a standard Les Paul was something like £450

So i've decided to ditch the EMG TBHZ pickups in favour of Epiphone Deep Sixx pickups! Cheaper & it'll be loud as hell i'm sure. Reason why the swap is cause in the eventuality if ever i decided to part with it, i wouldn't be so bummed out. But after a final fresh up in it's looks, i'll give it another go
The Deep Sixx are in fact loud as hell. :). They are also a bit on the "wooly" side, as I learned last night at (what may be) our last reggae gig of the season at our summer haunt... although they seem to bellow a good deal deeper, and generally louder than the DiMarzio P/Js w/ Artec pre on my Mutant Hamer, the Hamer is tighter, clearer sounding. It's not a put-off by any means, just noteworthy.

F0r some reason it's bothering me that the knobs on the T-bird don't match the others.

You needn't worry... This is my 2nd Goth, which I haven't modded yet, and which will get a completely different makeover. My primary Goth already has the same knobs, but wasn't home for the photo shoot. ;)

You need some P90s just to round the family off...

I do have a couple of Wildkats with P90's in them - But they don't come in flat black finish.... I do however have them in the White and Black Royale finishes... ;)

I only wish they would make/had made a Goth Firebird too...
