But sure like this as well. Potential neck issues. But wow does it look great. Don't think the price is that bad either.

I think you'd like them. They're ballsy like the RS66, but I think fuller-sounding. And they feel nicer under the fingers. @TBird1958, @MCF, and @dukeorock have been enjoying them and can probably chime in.

Yep. Power Steels give me the tone I’m after. And they feel better after they’re played in. Or maybe I’m just use to them. Need to order a few sets; no one near me sells them.

I picked up the Thunderbird from my shop, and they were able to replace the truss rod nut without any problem. They did say that the truss nut route is a little shallower than normal, which may have contributed to the nut getting stripped. To help me with adjustments in the future, they thinned out the barrel of a standard “crack pipe” adjustment wrench and put it in the case free of charge. Shout out to Parkway Music for the great job they did. The DR Lowriders are installed and the bass is all set up perfect for me. I haven’t had a chance to plug it in and hear the sound of the new strings, but I wanted to give a quick update for now!

Great news! Better to have a thinned wrench and a bit more wood at the route than the other way round.

Wise advice, and pretty much what I’ve been doing. Got the tone I want at volume settings of 1 to 8. I just ignore the 9 and higher on board volume settings and turn to the amp if I truly need to blast louder than 8 on board, which is very rare.

All of my Thunderbirds sound different (by intention), and are all set differently, except for the neck pickup. It's always on 10/full

Yep. Power Steels give me the tone I’m after. And they feel better after they’re played in. Or maybe I’m just use to them. Need to order a few sets; no one near me sells them.

I'm looking forward to getting them next Thurs. If they are way off from what I'm hoping for I'll have a set for sale! But I expect from the comments here that they will work well. If not on the '06 something else. I used their NPSs some years ago and liked them.

There's a glimmer of hope for down the road! Should have told her that would make a great 34th Anniversary present. But that may have been pushing it as well as obligating me to and equally expensive project around the house.....

I won't know until the honeymoon is over. I'll probably never say one is a favorite over the other. I love the pickups on the new one. And it's around 8 Lbs while the '13 is at least a pound heavier. The T-bird + pickups and SIT Power Steels sound really good on the '13 though, especially now that I have a proper rig. One thing about the '13 is the 9th fret is loose/high (disclosed when I bought it) so I can't set the action to what some think is ridiculously low. Only medium low. But I'm going to get that fixed with a level and crown and get a bit of fret sprout cleaned up too.

All true. I got in contact with them to get informed on it, and unfortunately they seemed to know very little. Said to assume the neck was damaged, but they didn't know yes or no. Didn't know what the refinish material was, or when it occurred. Asked about the covers, and all the did was keep sending me pictures of the pickup itself saying "the covers are attached, soldered on". And no flexibility on price, they said the owner had overpaid at even at the current price was losing money on it.

MCF, That is a gorgeous bass! How does the neck compare to your 2013? I am jonesing hard for one of those new NR Birds.
Dagrev, you and I may have the same wife, except mine favors the Pelham Blue. I even pointed out that the new BP has a very positive review in their gear section. Her concern was how many basses are in the man cave already. I have been considering selling off an Iceman I seldom play, and a Fender Vibro champ that is at least 30 years old and never used. I am feeling like a Christmas present to me is in order. I hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing weekend.
That time again in Eastern Wa. These came in yesterday from up by Inchuleum. My Bird seems interested in them. Juicy and delicious. Stay well my Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers.
