I've never messed with blend pots. But here's some info:

Blend pot tapers

So what you want is the MN tapered blend pot, not the AC tapered blend pot.

And remember, with some VVT-based Thunderbirds, turning both pickups wide open results in some drop. So I'd expect the same with a VBT. Wide open is wide open.

I rarely ever run either of my volumes at full on. Not fond of how it effects the tone. Anything above 8 or 9 on most of my birds seems to jump up in treble. Not sure why, probably something to do with load vs no load pots. Is there a way around this?

a small value resistor in series CAN resolve this issue at the expense of output level loss..it has to with the input Z of the amp you’re using, the type of cable, length etc., all issues solved with active on board preamps etc….my advice? (for whatever it’s worth)…. dial in your tone and play the darn thing….

Wise advice, and pretty much what I’ve been doing. Got the tone I want at volume settings of 1 to 8. I just ignore the 9 and higher on board volume settings and turn to the amp if I truly need to blast louder than 8 on board, which is very rare.

Yes, that would likely be the first try. Might slap some Roto 66s on it a gain now that I'm more used to how different it sounds. How you you say they compare to Rotos sound wise? I don't want bright alone, but am looking for punch as well.

I think you'd like them. They're ballsy like the RS66, but I think fuller-sounding. And they feel nicer under the fingers. @TBird1958, @MCF, and @dukeorock have been enjoying them and can probably chime in.

I'm trying hard not to think about it.....

But sure like this as well. Potential neck issues. But wow does it look great. Don't think the price is that bad either.
