I finally got around to pulling out the neck pickup on my VP and putting a shim under there so I could crank it closer to the strings. Holy moley, there's the beast! It has real low end and the growl I'd been looking for. Now I need to come up with a shim that angles it parallel to the strings rather than the body; when I had it as high as I wanted, strings collided crazily on the JAE frets. Then I'll do the same with the bridge just to see what that's like. Maybe I'd even use that p/u more. Who knows?

I believe mine are maxed out. I might look into that myself. I don't thing any of the PUs are far by any means, but could likely get a little closer.

I stared at the white VP for 47 minutes and you're right. It is a burst. I could eventually see all the different whites and how they were blended so well with a casual glance it just looks white. Who knew. :smug:

The one's with repaired headstocks sound better. The glue tightens up the sound at just the right point of enhancing the sympathetic vibrations between strings and wood.

OK, that's not known to be true. But it could be true because, after all, this is the internet.

There was a reason Univ of Kentucky changed their logo a bit. Prior to that Louisville fans loved to point this oddity out to UK fans. I'm not sure if it was a joke and no one caught it or what.

The tongue. Some more than others resemble a male appendage. It's a stretch I know, but no one has ever seen a tongue that looks like that. Many never noticed it, but once it began to be pointed out more noticed the oddness. It was a big enough deal UK changed it.

No, but I can understand weeding some out after many years. I have a ever growing library of books on guitars/basses and music and I refer to them all the time. Here's one that was supposed to be given a new printing right as Covid hit - still no sign of it and copies of the first (out of print) printing are going for nearly $1500 a pop ~
