I never sit in front of speakers at concerts, it's torture to me. I once went to see a band in a local theatre who had a couple of good sounding pop single out. The soundman turned up the kick drum so loud it blew a speaker or something as I went to a concert at the same place a few weeks ago and you could hear it. There is nothing so obnoxious to me as a too loud kick drum at a concert which seemed to be a style for a while. It actually hurt and I think i left early, couldn't stand it.

We got 'hosed' on the seating. Drove up from FL to Atlanta for the concert(Chicago/EWF). Had good seats near the center. There were people near us "smoking". That [stuff] makes my daughter violently ill. The venue staff moved us near the subs(seats were vacant). We paid extra for a 'meet and greet' so we weren't gonna leave.

There are clearly exceptions (Kaye and Oakley immediately come to mind), but often it seems when guitar players play bass it's kind of like a 4-string lead guitar. I once told a guitar player that likely many bass players can often tell if the guy playing bass was a guitarist playing bass. He was not only shocked but seemed offended. They can play some great stuff but can tend to be busy and in the wrong places. Again, there are many exceptions of guitarists who can pull it off.

That was backwards. Chicago should have paid to meet you.
