You could also try a thunderbird pro iv not the classic pro. It's neck thru active 4 pots (vol pan bass and treble). Has a way nicer bridge (I find the 3 point digs in to my hand). The neck feels faster than the classic I think because its a thinner profile. It has a way more versatile range of tones due to the active controls. I love mine to bits. Give one a go if you can and the necks a very strong 7 piece construction .

The "Classic" is Light Years better than the standard Epi in every aspect - Carry the thing in a case, it's a very small price to pay for a superior instrument.

word. They are so close to the Gibson T-Bird it's shocking. Superb rock tone, and one of the best pick tones ever. I paid 360€ for mine, about 400$... that's a steal for a solid built NT bass design.

And yeah, it sounds like the real thing.

Thanks tbird1958, that link shows the photos are neckthrough but the description is bolt-on, kinda confuses me but no worries, i'm gonna go back at GC tomorrow to check those lovely tbirds again, tbh that's why I was leaning towards bolt-on, just in case I get crazy imma make it to a fenderbird but since I found that NTs are stronger i'm leaning towards getting a classic pro. Thanks again. Imma search for tbird gigbags.

Didn't see the 2nd page, Thanks guys!

I like em too, I used to play active pick ups but I find changing batteries a hassle and when they drain, they drain on a inconvenient time. Might get one for my next bass.

I agree with Mark get the Classic pro! Big bang for your buck and way better than the Epi bolt on bird.

very true, Thank you guys! appreciate the help! if anyone can link me to the official Thunderbird club i'd be happy, been reading this forum for the past few days.

The tbird pro has a separate battery holder takes about 30 seconds to switch out. It should last about a year as long as unplugged when not being used.
Whatever you go for tbirds are great basses and all look so cool. I want another tbird think will be a classic pro in white but I will have to change the bridge i'm a pick player and rest my hand on it.

I played an active only once though and the battery went dead on me, idk if all active pickups will still work even if the battery gets drained? not sure as I have never really touched an active p-up bass after.

I have an Epi T-Bird, but I can't get past the neck diving. It drives me crazy when playing standing up. No love from me for any T-Bird.

the neck dive doesn't really bother me at all, plus the classic-IV pro has the straplocks on the back of the neck (where the boltplate is) and it solves like 90% of the dive, just a matter of body angling. I did it to my epiphone les paul spec bass. the only downside on it is it's heavy overall, but tbirds are lighter so ther eyou go.

Went back to guitarcenter and tried the classic-IV pro and the standard again, and damn i'm sold on teh classic pro, gonna get it maybe next week, too bad it doesn't come with a gig bag but I got my eye on the explorer bag on amazon, also tried the fender p mim and squier classic vibe, and they were no match for the thunderbird, also tried the gibson tbird, better but can't afford it, but it dsnt really have much difference aside from the materials used. Thank you guys for your insights.

Any of the pro models ,played both the classic and the pro1V active ,bought the active one in trans black.
fabulous bass, got a hard case and a gig bag.
Better bridge on the active and a lovely neck to play, bolt on feels like a baseball bat to the pro
