I have two future (I hope) classics. I hope they are not the last!

It doesn't appear the amp has changed much from the 750-A (other than adding the "crime-scene graphics"). I wonder if this is mostly a "re-rating" of the 750? (Or better cooling, or a new transformer??)

Anyone know what changed?

Greg

Here's a quote from Dave Funk from a series of emails we exchanged yesterday about the 800-B2:

"We made some small mods to the 750 along the way and the new amp has them all. A little louder at 2-ohms, surge protection, a little brighter, less DC offset in the DI. The 750 was 3 years old so it was time for a new model. Almost the same amp. "

It's going for the same price as the 750, $1895.

I would guess that it is a "Beefed up" version of the 750. On the site it states 800 watts @ 2 ohms, 630 watts @ 4 ohms, & 305 watts @ 8 ohms. I would like to try one out.

As far as power goes, the 750 is plenty, however, the 2 ohm option....... Of course, I have ran mine some at 2.67 ohms. I wonder if their is a difference in the tone?

Thanks for the info. That's good to know. Wonder if the upgrades could be applied to my 750? Doesn't need anything, but if I ever send it in for service, I think I will ask Dave.

Good to see the Thunderfunk going strong and making updates.

Talked to Dave today. Basically what Hollow Man said, Dave said he tweaked some here and there and made a few improvements.

Got mine on order, hopefully have it by mid-October. :hyper:

Marcus,
I am expecting/hoping for a review of your new head after you have had some seat time with it.

You did such a great job on the other TF reviews. Your honest assessment of the Thunderfunk heads was one of the reasons I seriously considered them.
