TI Flats are oh so Good!!!

Worth it, IMO 
They do mellow over time. What little clank they have new (which is nothing like other flats), dies out quickly and a wonderfuler, thicker, mellower, goodier sound thing happens that no other string does. Well worth the money given they might outlast you or the bass.
I've had them on several basses but have sold the basses that had them. I know will have them on 1 Warrior and my new Custom Bacchus bass. Simply love the tone they put out with these strings.
That rubber band feeling seals the deal for me. I like it so much that I tune to B standard to maximize the effect. Still working on dealing with those floppy strings, but I believe it'll be worth it once I can really control them.
They are really great strings. Only flats I like better are Chromes. It took me about 5-6 months to pick a winner there, but the more modern, crispy but warm sound of Chromes just suits my style more. Love the TIs and still have them readily available.
I know tone is subjective, but I do t see chromes as being warmer at all. To me TI's are by far the warmest and thickest tone of any flat or Round I've used. They don't sound like flats to me. I like chromes to but not nearly as much as TIs
Amazingly the tone remains the same. The highs are certainly crisper when first installed but they are still present many years on, even after when removed and reinstalled.
I've always wondered how these are, but never pulled the trigger on a set. I'm predominantly a SS roundwounds guy, but I have a set of chromes on my Jaco sig and a '55 pbass replica I built. I don't mind the stiffness of the chromes, and the only other set of flats I've tried were fender brand that was on the Jaco sig when I got it. I definitely didn't like the sound of those. I'd really like to try a set on the '55.
The lower tension wouldn't be an issue, in fact I'd like it probably, but do the strings roll under your fingers? That would be a definite turn off for sure. I'm just hesitant because of the price.
Anyone go from chromes to them? Like I said I like the sound of the chromes, but then again I really haven't tried many flats either. Which style would be better? The Jazz or the other ones? Sorry for so many questions, I'm just trying to get a feel for these strings based on the chromes I have now

I'm the opposite, I need my strings to be higher tension.

I have them on my P bass but wish they were a little closer to standard gauges in each string. I can't see how they wouldn't sound even better with a little more mass to them. I've pretty much switched everything over to lower tension strings and haven't looked back. Helps with the old RSI elbow issues.
Rumor has it that the TI Jazz Rounds are also not too shabby. I'm going to try some on my fretless.

My favorite flats by far. I'm not sure if it's due to the lighter tension, or maybe just the design of the strings but they just seem to sustain or "speak" better than any other flat, and most rounds. Upper fret chordal work sounds heavenly and low-down grooving sounds monsterous. Best sustain of any flat. Best tone of any flat.

I love Jazz Flats too! In my experience, nothing comes close.

You'll never really know until you actually try them for yourself.
No, they do not roll under your fingers. The TI Acousticores do that, but those strings are useless on a bass with magnetic pickups, they only work on piezo equipped basses. As to price, they last so long they are, actually, more cost effective than most other strings.
I had used Chromes for decades. I still have an old set of Super Soft Chromes sitting in a drawer if I ever want to use them again, but I don't think I will as the TI JFs are what I prefer.
I have not used them on a fretless, as of yet, but I have had them on several different basses. The '73 4001 that I recently sold to a friend has a set of JRs on it that I put on that bass in 2008!Rumor has it that the TI Jazz Rounds are also not too shabby. I'm going to try some on my fretless.
The JFs sounded great on my former (fretted) AV '62 Jazz Bass.
I've always experienced the strangest phenomenom with TI Flats.... No matter what strings I've put on my American Vintage 63 Precision Bass, and no matter how much I like them, I always remove them and always put TI Flats back on that bass. Over time, I've been impressed by, and highly praised, GHS Precision Flats, LaBella Deep Talking Flats, Sadowsky Black Label Flats, Pyramid Gold Flats and.... I always return to TI Flats. Maybe it's time to just accept my fate and leave the damn TI Flats on.
In my experience Chromes have more high end (at least at first) and deeper lows, but sound somewhat scooped. The TI's have quite a bit more mids, and lower buttery feeling, tension!
They're very different strings and both will please different players.
