TI jazz flats for Yamaha 5 string

I’m finally going to take the plunge with TI flats. I have a Yamaha BB435 that I would like to string using it’s through body option. Have any of my fellow TalkBassers used this method on their Yamaha BB 4,7 or BBP series basses? I would appreciate any feedback that you could provide.

I haven't used the TI flats myself, but there shouldn't be any issue putting them thru-body on the BB435 as Yamaha's "diagonal thru-body" design is a little more forgiving than the traditional one. I did own a BB435 till three weeks ago. And what I did is to top-load the low B only with the rest thru-body.

If your concern is purely working with string through body, then no issues. I use TI Jazz Flats on a G&L L2500 strung through the body. G&L bridge has a fairly sharp angle on the string when using through body.

If your concern is “will it sound good”, then you have to try and find out. TI Jazz Flats have a following, but may not be for you.

I’m about to put a set on my BB434. I was torn between trying them and La Bella LTF’s. Curious to hear the TI’s on it. The Yamaha BB’s are fairly “modern” sounding, to my ears, with rounds. I’m trying to “vintage” it up a little bit, if that makes sense.
