This thread is dangerous. When I got into Sunbeams I thought just maybe I might have been done trying strings. But you all make it sound like the Jazz Rounds are worth a try.

Well, the TIJRs are a lot smoother feeling.
I have some Sunbeams that I haven't installed yet (but probably will someday), for this reason.

Just be sure to adjust your truss rod, and also try a lighter touch with your right hand.
OK mine are to be delivered today and are going straight onto my new Suhr Classic J Pro. I’m truly excited to try them out on that bass.
Enjoy! Your initial tweaks to the truss rod might need some follow up after a few days when everything settles in.
Really go gentle to keep things clean, but if your amp is nice and responsive (like the TT-800), you can get some really nice gritty tones from digging in.
Ok got em and put them on my Suhr Classic J Pro. They are perfect for that bass and perfect for my nerve damaged hands. I played for an hour today and no pain after for the first time in a while. I could actually play like I used to. Why a great find for me. I dig the old school tone too. Love em! Thanks for all the good info here.
Sunbeams are already very smooth, how much smoother can rounds be?
With the small gauges to the jazz rounds sound thing?
What I meant was, I have some Sunbeams but I haven't installed them because the TIJRs I have on now are smoother feeling (and that was all I could say about Sunbeams because I haven't tried them).
I'm not sure what you mean, but the TIJRs are also very flexible, more flexible than Sunbeams too.

I tried something else too, D'Addario Half Rounds 40-95. They *are* smoother feeling than TIJRs, but unfortunately they are much less flexible, which "defeats the purpose" a little.

TIJR's are light gauge, so I wondered how thick the sound was, how strong the fundamental is?
Talkbass has many opinions about that.
I think that the more flexible the string the clearer the fundamental (and I believe that's what the science says). So I don't think TIJRs sound thin at all.
I agree. And that's why I like sunbeams/jazz flats, and round core strings in general.
Don't equate the physical "thinness" of the string to having a thin tone. That's a fallacy.
I put the short scale set on my Wattplower shortly after I got it & am similarly in love w/ their feel & tone. I was pretty surprised at the jump in output from the NYXL set I had just prior to the TI Jazz Rounds as well.

The Jazz rounds have definitely made me a believer for sure. Ever time I try a bass out in the shop, no matter how nice the bass feels the strings are just not right. The tension is wrong and the tone is off. Jazz rounds are worth every penny. The Jazz flats are awesome too. I guess I’m a TI fanboy. Hahaha
That is wonderful news.
Whenever I do something idiotic and cause myself hand pain, my jazz bass with TI jazz rounds is the first step towards getting back to playing.
I have nerve damage too, maybe these would help on a bass or two
