Time 4 Change----Read On!!

Long time flats user---like 'em no problems just looking for different flavor for a while.

Gear: 57 AVRI P-Bass/Lollar Pickup into a Aguilar Tone Hammer 500- 2/1 x 12 Aguilar cabs.
Bass is Ash with Maple neck.

I want to turn this bass into a grinding P with some growl-95% of the time I play with a pick.

What do you guys suggest for strings to point me in that direction?

Please note: I would like to keep to Nickels if possible and finger noise as low as possible.

Roto Swing Bass nickels..........bright but mellow down just right. Feel awesome, decent tension.

How are the DR Lo-Rider Nickels for the grind/growl thing?

I have some Helix NPS strings around the house somewhere (just moved) to try......good suggestion with the Roto Nickels-used them on my Ric in the 70's. Worth a shot for sure............

Or GHS Progressives

I'd actually go this route over the Boomers or Pressurewounds. The Progressives by themselves with just fingers can get pretty aggressive if you dig in, but use a pick and they'll growl something fierce.

This is wise advice. Pressurewounds have been on my P Bass many years.
